    I've had one for a while now and I'm really happy with it. Great service all around the house, inside and out. I bought a shelf for it and mounted it about 5 feet up the wall. I have 400/20 from Spectrum and get better than that in most of the rooms on my cell phone. Outside I can get between 200-300 down and 15 up.

      I can't speak to that specific model, but TP Link makes solid equipment so it should work well. I have two of their dedicated APs in my house for about 3 years now and they've been flawless.

        If you're looking for something inexpensive, and that you can be sure doesn't "phone home" on you, then I would get a slightly older PC for, say, $50, install OpenBSD and a wireless network card in it, and make that your router. I've been running OpenBSD router/firewalls for years now, and they're very solid.
