    Paramount + Streaming Rant

Of the several streaming apps I use on and off with my Samsung smart tv, none is more problemmatic than Paramount+. I use this to watch Blue Bloods, Chicago PD and occasional other series. Currently I am watching 1883 and, like with some other series, the streaming will freeze midway through an episode, always after a commercial break. Forced restart, unplug/plug, fast forward, etc. do not help and each time I try to reboot the episode, it immediately goes through 2-3 minutes of commercials ( which of course play perfectly) then the blank screen returns in freeze mode.

If I exit that specific episode, I can play another episode of tge same series or another show with no problem. If I return to the frozen episode the next day, it always picks up where I left off and plays perfectly.

I am getting this crap once every 7-10 days and Paramount support is of zero help because they will not admit it is their fault, and all of the reboot gyrations do nothing.

CBS is the only mainstream network that I watch any programming at all, and since they went 100% with Paramount + the streaming freeze is enough to piss off the Pope.

Out of Amazon, Hulu, and Netflix I have zero streaming issues.

I never stream on my tablet or PC; only the Samsung tv or on my iPhone

No, you’re not going crazy. Their interface sucks. Errors out with no error code, sluggish, restarts... It’s horrible. I’m trying to get through all the star treks. It’s frustrating.

Agreed. One of the worst streaming platforms I've seen.

Paramount+ does have issues. They tend to be intermittent for me.

I generally only watch it while using a FireStick (Amazon) and have the Paramount+ app loaded.

Sometimes multiple seasons of a series will disappear. Sometimes episodes will sort of play and jump around showing a few seconds from one part of the episode and then from other parts. For me the problem is worse as it gets later at night which makes me wonder if some of it is a bandwidth issue for Paramount+. I don't seem to have the bandwidth issues with other apps.

But most of the time it works fairly well for me. But I'm generally not watching live-streaming stuff.

I have major issues with audio not tracking. I have to stop and clear cache and sometimes it will work. My internet is Starlink so that might factor in as well but zero issues with YouTube TV or Amazon Prime.

This is why you should only stream Netflix or Hulu lol, I haven't had any issues with either, was thinking about getting Paramount+ but now I don't think I will.

Paramount was freezing up or picture would freeze but sound keep going, except when the power went out during snowstorm or the high wind outages, then it plays fine, I think my internet provider over sold in my area and that is why it works so well when power goes out. Now that the power is back on and the internet slows down, I have been downloading episodes while watching and it will play fine.

I had an issue with HBO Max a few months ago when my Samsung TV wouldn't download the newer version required, bc it didn't have enough storage. Got a Google Chromecast and bypassed it, been working like a charm. Added bonus, it has better reception for my home wifi than the TV did natively.

I've found that the smart TV apps built into the TV are usually pretty lame and they also do not get maintained for very long. Getting a Fire Stick was a serious improvement over the native smart TV apps. You might want to try...

it is also a very good idea to reboot your modem at least every month. i found that that greatly improved what i was doing when using KODI.
