Which new phone should I get

I have a Galaxy S8. The battery doesnt hold a charge and I keep getting a "No SIM card" prompt. Its probably time for a new phone.

I'm kinda over the Galaxy and I wont do an iPhone. My provider is Verizon. I use it for basic functions (calls, texts, internet) so I dont need anything fancy.

What phones should I check out and research and why?

    Thanks for the suggestions.

Look into the Motorola phones. Good bang for the buck. It has some extra branded crap on it but nothing like all the extra garbage Samsung piles on their phones.

Motorola is now Chinese owned (Lenovo) and customer service suck.
It would be a hard no for me.

I'd rather buy from friendly countries like Korea or Japan.

Clean the SIM contacts with 70% or higher alcohol.

        I am digging my T-MOBILE A71 Samsung.

This may come as a shock but pretty much everything electronic is made in China. Samsung makes a lot of their chips here in the US (about 50 miles from my house here) and then sells them to all the other manufacturers.

I am still using the Pixel 3a. No real complaints, for the simple things I use it for. I will probably upgrade to another Pixel when needed.

If it worked, it would be interesting. Couldn't find a good review on it.

I think the puri.sm Librem 5 is sold out and back ordered until October.

The consumer ready model was just released in the last month 2021, so these reviews were from a year ago of a pre-production or short run test model I believe.

You can even get a USA made version, but it costs more than double the international sourced version.

This phone and the company have a lot of potential, I hope to try one in October.

This. Just upgraded to a Moto G Power. Battery is phenomenal! This is my 3rd Motorola over the past 7 years and the other 2 still work great. Only reason I upgrade is because after 2 years, the batteries don't hold a charge through the whole day.

                              oneplus is also chinese.

pretty much, anything decent that is budget priced are chinese owned now.

i'm in the same boat as i'm not willing to spend more than $400 for a new cell phone.

i'm was almost tempted to buy those ultra cheap old style flip phones but i want to be able to web surf and watch some youtube while on break at work so those won't work....
