Plenty of AMD cpus in stock right now on newegg. GPUs are a different story.

Check the requirements of the software you're running. Some may not be compatible with both.

Overclocking: intel still gets hightest score(mott)
Amd: you get what you pay fpr asnin price to performance is adequately priced.
If all you doin is bs 6 cores gets it done.
Multitasking? 8 cores or more is better but not undoable.

Not true with the ones that end with "G", for example, the Ryzen 3200G has a built-in GPU.

3700X if you are doing light video edit and no gaming. you need more cores.

The question is whether the new Intel Integrated Graphics 750 will work if I have 32GB of system RAM. Perhaps not, given the above specs. My 4k videos are less than 10 minutes each, and do not contain special effects. I do not know how that effects hardware needs.

                2) What processor? Adobe says Intel 11th gen Intel or equivalent AMD. I am considering Intel Intel i5-11600k ($265), Intel i7-11700Kk ($395), AMD 5600X (~$370, MSRP = $299), or AMD 5800X ($450).

                My inclinations.

AMD is out. 5600X overpriced at ~$370. 5800X too expensive at $450.
Unsure of 5600X is good enough for 4k. AMD has no integrated graphics.
Since no graphics cards are available or overpriced, I cannot use AMD.

Intel is a possibility. Not sure between i5-11600k ($265) and i7-11700k ($395). I can try using Intel integrated graphics, which is a big improvement in these new Q1 2021 Rocket Lake CPUs. Later, can add as graphics card if needed, assuming they are available. Intel requires a cooler, but since hot running, will opt for a Noctura air cooler.

Really wanted to use AMD, but not seeing how that can work for me.

                Comments welcome.

Last I heard, Intel is good with their newest i5, but crap with the i7, and flaming dog-crap with the i9. The i7 and i9 are beat out by their Ryzen counterparts/tier-equivalents.

Intel also has that Optane memory thing if you need to find some middle ground between fast+expensive lower capcacity SSD and slow-cheap higher capacity HDD.

My use is Internet, limited 4k video editing, Microsoft Office, e-mail, SketchUp 3D (simple stuff). No gaming at all. I do not overclock. The way I see it is as follows:

Intel i5-11600K: Available. Cheaper than AMD, especially now with price gouging on AMD. Comes with integrated graphics, which may be all I need?, fast enough, though a tad slower overall vs 5600X. No cooler. Can run quite hot.

AMD 5600X: Slightly faster than Intel, comes with integrated cooler, runs cool, but while MSRP is $299, always selling for more like $370, and often not available.

Question really is, will the new Intel graphics (UHD 750) sufficient for my needs? I don't know. And if a graphics card is available, is one even available, and at what cost? The Intel needs a cooler, but a single fan Noctura should be OK (I hope). I wish to avoid liquid cooling. I've yet to look into motherboard costs.

Existing CPU is an Intel i5-2500k. I have not tried it with 4l video editing, but would not expect it to fare well.

                    Thanks.

I have a old i7 and a couple of old i5 PC's... and a Core2Duo laptop hahahah. The most recent is a 8th gen i5 - 8500 I think... They do what I need to do with not too many issues but I can get the 6th gen to lag sometimes with three monitors even though it has super fast GPU in that system...

I just went back to AMD with a Zephyrus G14. Just got it today and I like it a lot. It feels faster than my desktop. Ryzen9 5900HS cpu and a RTX 3060 GPU in a 14" svelte laptop.

After using this a few hours I am looking at updating the desktop with new mobo, ram, and a 5900X... but we will see. That's a lot to buy and to scrap. I'd have to buy a mobo any way I updated though because Intel mobos usually only cover 2 gens per mobo even if they all have the same socket... the last intel board I got will only post with gen8,9. So eventually I will get another Ryzen9 unless something new comes out. One of these Ryzen9's in a desktop where there are no power limits must shred everything else.

If you get a laptop, you can just hook up a huge monitor and keyb, mouse when it is on your desk if you like... and the right laptop will feel like a desktop.

To get a good GPU, it is easier to get a prebuilt or a laptop right now.

I got my G14 at Best Buy... still in stock.

I was considering the same thing Intel or AMD. I do a lot of Video editing and zooming with multiple applications opened at the same time for business purposes. I was considering I5 or I7 vs Ryzen 5 or 7.

I've been using I7 first-gen until 2 months ago. It was still doing the job and kept crashing here and there. After much research, I was recommended to get either I7 or Ryzen 7 with a minimum of 16GB of RAM.

Because of my multitasking, IT professionals were recommending that I go with AMD. They also said AMD is the best value for the money and that Ryzen 7 quality is a little better than I7.

I decided to get this Ryzen 7 because of a great deal from Newegg. I was able to get it for $799 after rebate.

All I can say is what a difference. I have it connected to 2 monitors and it works great! I don't play any games, only video editing. With many applications open including video editing apps., the max I've seen the cpu usage is 60%

It is quick and can handle all my video editing. I have no regrets about this purchase.

The downfall with this is the speakers and how loud the cooling fans can get.

Since I got it I've seen it go on sale for as low as $899 twice after rebate.

                          I hope that helps.

                          Cheers!

The mouse and hole situation is not as simple as you may think. A pest control person stated he did not have the equipment to fix the hole given its location and access. He was out here for insect control.

If there are other questions, best to put them on the mouse post.

I ended up ordering a Alienware pre-built to get into a Ryzen desktop. Kind of barebones as far as Alienwares go, but I have more memory and SSD's to add.
