Check out my video on the Lumintop FW3A. 2800 lumens, bright enough to be used an EDC defensive light. It can blind. I’ve had very expensive lights and this is by far my favorite at $40.

The Fenix PDs are pretty damn good. Rechargeable depending on model.

Good for aircraft walk-arounds in the dark and the rain and you can belt a TSA goober in the chops before you notice the embroidered "badge".

This is my small pocket flashlight. Three output levels.

My only complaint is that the power button is on the body and easy to miss sometimes. I need to add a spot of hot glue or skateboard tape on the button so that I find it by feel more easily.

Looking for a reliable small (AA or so, type) flashlight for wife's purse.

Price range (if possible) $30-$50, with around 250 LM

No parasitic drain would be a huge +, If not, a nice tail cap, that will let you back it off, to achieve this, is OK.

Streamlight Stylus, uses 2 AAA's, I've been using one for 5 or 6 years every day, I've worn the anodizing off from use. Batteries last along time if I don't inadvertently turn it on when I put it in my pocket.

Maratac AA's start around $30 for domed strobe and go to about $50 for the double AA. I have a double AA and a AAA copper that are really nice. You might look at the AAA collection.

This! I have 20+ flashlights from Surefire, Fenix, Olight, etc.. The S1R Baton II is my go to EDC light. It's no AA, but I've all but given up on AA and AAA lights for leaving the house. When stored for a long time Alkalines leak and ruin devices. In the AA and AAA lights I do still use, I only run Eneloop rechargeable batteries which is fine around the house. The problem with them is that there is pretty much no warning when they hit the end of their charge. The light just suddenly won't turn on. With the magnetic charger, the Olight is easy to keep charged and the light runs for a long time on medium, which is more than bright enough for most tasks. Having 1000 lumens on tap if needed is nice. I've got a few friends that carry these too and everyone loves them.

Used a small streamlight, but about 5 years ago I got a pelican 1910. Single AAA, tail click and pocket clip. Perfect EDC light.

+1 on the Pelican 1910. Fits the OP's description to a T. It's my EDC light. My FFL was giving them away to customers a couple of years ago.
