I have had pretty good luck with 3-mode Zoomable "CREE"(?) China fleshlights of the 18650 and/or 3xAAA varieties. Very few failures, but if one fails, I buy in lots of 3-4 for $4-$7/ea.
I am suprized at how reliable these are at this price, and I can use them a couple of times/day most weekdays. The electronics are susceptible hiccups when icey-cold in the car some mornings, but work very well in the home, or once they are warm.

For all the people with lights that contain batteries you do not supply yourself (USB or some Dock charger), have you had good luck with longevity, say 2 year or longer, and can the battery be user-replaced at this point?

That first one is damn bright. I have a thousand lumen headlamp and this thing blew it out of the water. I just spent about $400 in all lights and got the seeker to pro, the warrior EX turbo, best one hour, baldr mini, and some others and man these things are bright

Streamlight microstream, is an excellent rechargeable task light that uses the same charging cord as my cr123a's for surefire scout lights (m300c & m600df), fenix headlamp and portable charging device. It's light, slim and perfect for an EDC task light. The brown model goes to full power on the first press and reduced light for double touch.

Either of these. I would not get my wife a recharge battery light for her purse. She would use the light infrequently. If it goes years without a charge I want to know it works. So the Coast or Streamlight 1L with alkaline battery would be my choice.

Either will take a rechargeable 14500 and provide a lot more lumens if you do, but either will work with a single AA and they still give great light on 1.5v. (the 1L-1AA will also take CR123 - it is a triple fuel light)

I have many light mentioned in this thread, but I have like 20 Coast HP1 all over. And at least 5 of the 1L-AA. They are both that awesome. My wife, kids, cars, laptop bags, travel bags etc all have Coast HP1. I have also gifted many HP1 and 1L-1AA

I'm a big fan of the 14500 batteries that replace the AA setup. I have a little cheap light from Amazon that has a 90 degree swivel head that is something like 600 or 800 lumens, and it's EVERY bit as bright as my small Olights.

I threw an Olight brand 14500 battery that cost almost as much as the flashlight, and it's bright as all getout. the AA batteries make it shine, but the 3.7v from the 14500 battery is like it is on turbo mode. If it gets too hot, it WILL go to limp mode and shut down on you though, so know that as a heads up.

I've had REALLY good luck with Wowtac for the money. It is Thrunite with a different body/label on it. Same guts inside, and they work fantastic for the money. I've been on kind of a flashlight quest for the last 6 months and I've probably spent over 600 on flashlights. I think the best two buys for the money are the Wowtac A1S, and the 3200 Lumen headlamp. They will shut down on you if they're too hot though which is a common thread in new flashlights.




I really like these because they come with a great battery, flashlight and usually a lanyard. Best fifteen bucks you're EVER gonna spend.
