We have satellite internet. It sucks.
When speed is needed I use my cell phone as a mobile hotspot.

We also did a lot of camping this summer. There was almost always over air tv available.

Hi have Hughes net but I am not very happy with it at all. for most my Internet functions I used my cell phone hotspot.

I am waiting for I think it's Called Starlink from Elan musk.

starlink is a cool idea round trip to geostationary takes too long

Geocentric would never work, latency aside, the footprint is too big. Not enough bandwidth to support enough customers to make it commercially viable.

I live out in the desert, no cable for internet or TV. We use Dish Network for TV and a Verizon MIFI hotspot for our internet. With Verizon, the hotspot is only good for 15 gigs at their highest speed offered (30mbps down/10mbps up), then it goes down to worse than dial-up (600kbp). We have their "unlimited" plan, but the hotspot is still throttled after 15 gigs. We work around this by using our 2 cellphones as hotspots too, so technically, we get 45 gigs (cellphones will also throttle 15 gigs of hotspot usage) of high speed internet. We have been able to stream Amazon Prime videos, but it burns through you data pretty quick. Frontier said they were running fiber optic cable in our area, but it never happened. I see it on the poles, but both ends are just hanging.

It cost a lot of money to run fiber. It will take decades of your $65/month to make ROI.

Let us know how that works out. I had Hugesnet, and it sucked bigly. It was great between 2 am and 3 pm, then when everybody gots home from work, the speeds where dial-up, if that. Friends have signed up for their business plans and have better luck, but they have the $$$$ to spend, I don't.

Viasat is way better than Hughes net. but I am waiting for Starlink it has no limits.
I thought about signing up with viaset but did not want another 2 year contract.

We have to have something out there. Border patrol has station on hill just above us. Would like to poach on their gear. Nearest neighbor 1 mile then none except squatters fo miles. East no one for 10 miles. Viasat has worked for here shoyuld work for us till project starts.

I have the same set up you have but I have two mifi hotspot with 15 gigs each. I can still watch YouTube videos when they are throttled down. and I increased my cell phone package to include my 2 cell phones with 30GB of data each which gives me 90GB per month for hotspots.

We have just recently upgraded to the unlimited plan on both phones and the MIFI (new), we are still throttled after 15 gigs of hotspot usage on each device. Going this route, we saved about $100 a month. I used to have a data only plan (30 gigs) on my older hotspot. When it finally died on us we upgraded to the MIFI and unlimited. We found we had a hard time staying under the 30 gigs, and Verizon charged $15 per gig over. Ouch. I have been able to watch Prime videos on our smart TV when throttled, but there is a bit of buffering and it will default to the lowest resolution.
