Quick update folks; spoke with Alandata and will take the PC and drives down as soon as I can free up some time. Both drives are identified by the BIOS, but the OS can not read them so I am leaning toward the RAID controller broken...but we will see...

Can you tell if the RAID controller had a battery backup on the board? Did you see any alerts about a low battery before it crashed?

Kudos to Alandata for a fast reconfiguration of the Raid 0 setup on my two discs and recovery of all the stored data onto a SSD. I can not thank them or praise them enough.

No battery backup on the MB. Raid controller failure. Now resolved thanks to Alandata.

Glad you got the data off your drives. Were they able to figure out if it was the controller?

Can you share how much data was recovered and how much total to recover?

Yes it was the controller which caused the Raid 0 crash. Alandata removed both drives and figured out the pairing (size, location etc.) and recovered 600 GB of data off of them and wrote it up on a SSD. I don't know how much of the Raid 0 1.5 TB was used by us, but all the important data files, photos, videos was recovered. I know this because I had backed up photos and videos a couple months prior...but not the files.

FWIW you should have 3 backups of your important data and one of them off site. I am working on setting this up (possibly with a NAS) and removable drive that I'll take off site every week.

                Good idea OP.

Your data is only as good as your last known GOOD backup. Glad you got your files back!

BTW, right after I posted I read the post above mine and saw that you said it was the RAID controller.
