Good Quality Ethernet Cable for 75' run?

Looking for a good quality Ethernet cable for a 75' run from my Router to a Roku Ultra. My download speed is only 12mbps so am trying to minimize as much loss as possible. Best Buy has a 100' CAT6 cable but I only need 75'. Walmart has a cheap looking generic 75' CAT6 for under $20 but I don't want to settle for less quality.

Have you checked amazon? They might have something. Feedback and return policy is great too.

Yes, I have but there's a lot of dubious quality stuff on Amazon so figured I'd ask for recommendations from the Techies here.

Panduit is the only thing I use. Here are the 75 foot patch options from them

The retail price on the UPPBU75 is $125

          Amazon has it for $78

That’s a 23 gauge plenum rated cable with my favorite mod ends.

If you want the 23 gauge 10gb cable it is $130 at Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Panduit-UZPPBU75/dp/B07RZLSRGT

Thanks - that seems like excellent quality but would that be overkill considering my paltry 12mbps connection? Was looking at Monoprice at this cable - would that be a good choice? Also, is Shielding a big deal when choosing a cable?

That monoprice cable seems to have good reviews. If you only have 100mb links between the router and Roku, it is probably worth a shot.

I hate those booted cable plugs but if it the only cable you have like that, then no need to punch out the guy who sells it to you

If you are not running near high voltage power, radio transmitters, machinery or over fluorescent lights etc then no need for shielded.

75' is a short run for cat-5 or cat-6. In most home cases, Quality routers and switches have more to do with bandwidth than cables.
Your typical 100mb cabling and local network has 10x the bandwidth of your internet connection.

Thanks all - have a highly rated Cat6A cable coming from Monoprice.com for $25.

When it comes to Ethernet cable, for the most part copper is copper. You won't notice any difference between different brands, other than color and connector type (boot vs no boot), and sometimes thickness. Other than that, the only difference is the amount of money the manufacturers are able to collect from the suckers who think a name brand cable is somehow superior. I've been in IT many years and ran my share of cable, solid, stranded, plenum, STP, you name it. They all perform at the standard Ethernet performance level.

I've bought brand name cables and the cheapest no name brand cables from Newegg and Amazon and they all work the same. Monoprice cables are good enough, you won't be disappointed.

It's not gonna make a difference. The biggest difference will be in the quality of the connector crimping. I'd just get one from monoprice or amazon. They will be the same speed as a $125 line.

Monoprice Cat6 is all that you need. Really for a <100 meter 100Mb run Cat5 would be fine and 100Mb is all that the latest Rokus can use. I use Cat6 for Gigabit runs because I have PCs and Shield TVs with Gb ports in addition to my 100Mb Roku Ultra (2019). Monoprice sells great cables that are relied upon by many corporations.

The cables have no trouble with 1GbE and I have a couple that are 150 ft.
Same here, but I got the remainder of a solid copper Cat 5 spool I got gratis during a cleanup of a facility we took over.
Cat5 runs gigabit fine for most runs I have seen with Cat 5 solid, unless a really long run.

For 75'-100' runs... use whatever. For longer runs, get solid copper rolls, and maybe roll your own.

Big fan of Monoprice. I rewired my home with their bulk cable a few years ago and the runs have been rock solid.
