I severely dislike Windows 10 and spent a lot of time making a machine appear as did XP Pro SP3

      @1bulletBarney

IF you choose to go with Windows 10, I'll tell you how to turn automatic updates on, and off, at will. Not merely "delaying" them, so that you aren't interrupted suddenly by them.

I have one, Win10 system that I do this on. It's not difficult to do, and it works.

Windows 10 comes with the essentially undefeatable Cortana spyware. I'd much rather downgrade to Windows 7, but can't find it anywhere.

Cortana can be completely immobilized, or removed. So can Edge, IF you know what you're doing.. You can, if you know what to look for, find legit copies of Win7Pro on Ebay. I've purchased them. They work fine.

If you mean a consumer buys the rights with a OEM license procured directly by the consumer and not as OEM install of a new PC, but to upgrade an existing Windows OS install, then no, you cannot. After sitting with MS licensing over the last few decades, they have changed their policy on this but currently it is not a legal entitlement. Windows 10 OEM is for System Builders and licensed for System Builders.

You are entitled to upgrade a OEM install of Windows, as in purchased and supplied by the system builder, by purchasing a retail license. Certainly OEM license are available from Amazon and you could use it for an upgrade but as with any OEM license, you are not entitled to support from MS. Or any virtualization rights as well. You as an individual who is building your own PC, can purchase and install a OEM license. Again, support entitlements are not included. You can add Software Assurance to OEM licenses within 90 days of purchase. https://dpcenter.microsoft.com/en/Wi...icensing-Guide

Don't worry about Windows 10, your ISP knows "everywhere" you've been. LOL

This has been my experience, at least with a fresh install. You can download Windows 10 and during the install process when it asks for your license just enter your Windows 7 license. It should activate without issue. I did this myself about 10 months ago.

I was running W7 in a dual-boot environment (Intel-chipped Apple hardware under Bootcamp in a HDD partition) and I was SHOCKED at how easy the upgrade to W10 was. Under W7 I had experienced a host of problems, including a major crash that I remedied by reinstalling W7. When I upgraded to W10 I was initially resistant, because I was anticipating the need to reinstall (yet again) all my software. But after the upgrade was basically forced on me, I was pleasantly surprised to see all my software right back where I wanted it. It was as painless as an update of OS X. Knock on wood, but I continue to run W10 on a partition on my Apple hardware, and no significant complaints. From my perspective, W10 has been basically better than W7, and I continue to use an enterprise version of W7 at work (no choice in that).

In case it is of interest, I initially ran W7 on a 2011 iMac (i7quad core), and now run it on a 2017 iMac (i7 quad core).

At least you are running PC hardware (i7)...

Is there a CD that lets you change from XP Pro SP3 to Win7?

There is, however the issue is, does your computer have enough ram to run it? IMHO, 4 gb/RAM is not enough, to properly run Win7.

Get another drive swap out old.
Install W10 from copy sold on EBay
                            There you have it.
                            Want XP do the same.
Copies on W10 run 20 bucks

I will probably stick with XP Pro SP3 then. Eventually, will buy a Mac. I really don't care for Microsoft "upgrades", which in every case, I think is a downgrade.
