Background: I was a Network Admin for 14 years, but that was a long time ago, and I've lost the bubble on the available tools.
Sad Story: My mom is in Utah, I'm in Los Angeles. She's having trouble with her email, and I would like to debug it from Los Angeles. Installing software is beyond her, and I don't want to pay The Geek Squad $300 for a basic job.
Her PC is running Windows 7 and Firefox.
My question: there used to be a remote control software tool that worked through a website, but I cannot find it anymore, and I suspect it was OBE by changes to IE's security rules.
There were other tools that were based on a USB stick... you enter the stick, and it connects to the remote terminal.
I used VNC for years, but I don't know her current IP address, and she's behind a NAT firewall without any ports open.
She has NOD32 antivirus, which tends to do a decent job of stopping malware, which might very well include this tool.
is there a tool that I can use, without spending hours on the phone with my mom, to gain remote control access to her PC?
