iPad - how to remove previous owners iTunes account
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)
Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

Doesn't work, you still need the itunes password for the previous account. It is done to prevent theft and sales of stolen devices, factory reset wont fix the problem. The only thing these are good for, are parts.
OP - your friend should try the alternate options to reset the password. Email reset is not the only option. If she still has the same phone number she used, or remembers the answers to security questions, she can reset the password
Last resort is for her to contact apple support https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204169Last edited by SkyHawk; 05-20-2018, 12:27 PM.Comment

I've done that before and it works. Restore to factory settings erases the Ipad like it was brand new.Doesn't work, you still need the itunes password for the previous account. Yeah. We tried a few things. She will try the iTunes process.
Email account is dead
Now she gets to go to iTunes support and see what they will do....Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Look people:
Find my iPhone enables Activation Lock
Find My includes Activation Lock — a feature that's designed to prevent anyone else from using your iPhone or iPad if it's ever lost or stolen. Activation Lock turns on automatically when you turn on Find My on your device.
When you turn on Find My iPhone on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, your Apple ID is securely stored on Apple’s activation servers and linked to your device. From that point on, your Apple ID password or device passcode is required before anyone can turn off Find My iPhone, erase your device, or reactivate and use your device. If you can't find your Apple ID or reset your password, you'll lose access to your account and might be unable to use or reactivate your deviceCheck for Activation Lock before you buy a device from someone else
Before you buy an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple Watch from someone other than Apple or an authorized Apple reseller, make sure that the device is erased and no longer linked to the previous owner’s account. Ask the seller whether or not they've turned off Activation Lock, then follow these steps:if you forget the DEVICE passcode, you can erase it but you still need the APPLE ID password if find my iphone was enabledBefore you give away your device or send it in for service
Make sure that you turn off Find My iPhone on your device before you give it away or send it in for repair. Otherwise, your device is locked and anyone that you give the device to can't use it normally and Apple technicians can't perform service repairs. Just sign out of iCloud and then erase all content and settings. This completely erases your device, removes it from your Apple ID, and turns off Find My iPhone.
if you forgot the ICLOUD / APPLE ID passcode, erasing it will not remove the activation lock
Think about it. There is a reason that hundreds of devices for sale on ebay specifically state they are locked and being sold for parts only, and it isn't because no one ever heard of DFU. This is a SECURITY FEATURE.
When you do a DFU restore it will not override activation lock.
There are a lot of scam products that claim to remove activation lock, but mostly just scams. There may be legit 3rd party products that can do it.
People have been trying to get around it for years and for a brief time there may have been a hole
The activation lock feature Apple introduced when the iPhone 6 launched made the devices a lot less attractive to would-be thieves. But like a lot of physical locks, the software activation lock in iOS can be forced open if you know the right tricks.
Apple can remove activation lock remotely, but will only do it if you can convince them you rightfully own the device.Last edited by SkyHawk; 05-20-2018, 11:37 PM.Comment
