To my knowledge, there is not another replacement for that chip set fan (not a CPU fan) that fits now. It's an older Asus board from 2006. So yes, I and others that know more than I have figured it out.
Thank you

I remember when the "Golden Orb" heatsinks became popular.
They were a takeoff of a Panasonic design... but they were not copies, they were simply a similar design but with much less aluminum.
And the fans were junk.
My CPU started getting hot (not overheating, but hot) maybe 6 months later. Opened the case and the fan was stopping every few minutes. My buddy's completely stopped (his MB monitored RPM so he caught it).
I had the "Blue Orb" chipset sinks on my graphics card and MB chipset. Same thing... cheap Chinesium fans took a dump after a few months.
And this was in a case with three 120mm fans and four 80mm fans... with good filtration... case was clean inside.- Rich

Theoretically, anything with metal or a conductive material is as stated. I never had any issues.
I ran an OC'd Athlon K6 cpu with no heatsink, with only a fan blowing on it and it never failed.
And, I ran a XP-m 2600 with a Big Typhoon heatsink that ended up with "too much" AS5 on it. running 240mhz x 15
