I've got an old Nexus 4. I've broke/rooted it, and replaced the OS with LineageOS. (it's basically Google's Android, but without any google apps on it).
My intent is to make a phone with no google hooks in it at all.
Without using the google app store, it's pretty hard to find apps. Amazon's App Store sucks so bad, you can't even download Amazon's phone app through it!
Some apps can be downloaded from the vendor website and installed from the local drive, but this tends to be a touchy process I've found, the phone web browser doesn't seem to want to download the files cleanly.
I've found APKpure, which is ok, but the available apps seem several versions behind Google's app store, and paid apps aren't available, so you can't buy the "pro" versions of apps.
Is there any hope?
