Worth it to upgrade old computers?

Both my desktop and laptop are pushing 10 years old. The desk top is an ACER, and has 3GB of DDR2 RAM, and a 320GB HDD, and is running Windows 7. The laptop is an MSI, and I would have to look up the specs, but it is less powerful than the desktop, for sure. I "upgraded" to Win 10 on the laptop. The laptop video card struggles a little with videos from time to time, but it is rare.
I will say that I have never had a lick of trouble with either machine, although I hardly ever use the laptop. The desktop is used several hours each day. The majority of use is tied to surfing the net, and some occasional MS Office work. Nothing more.
So, in your opinions, should I bother with attempting to upgrade, or just get a new desktop, and transition the things I do on the laptop to my tablet, and keep the laptop as a spare?
    Thanks.

Don't bother... Hardware has changed a TON in the past 10 years, and it can't benefit from many of the advances made in that time.

Best bet is to start fresh, although migrating to a new computer is usually pretty painful if you have a lot of apps and data.

For the cost of upgrading the components, you will be able to find something new in a similar price range. The old hardware is just a time bomb waiting to explode... Components fail over time, and hardware drivers become obsolete and hit the point where they are no longer updated or developed for newer platforms.

Since you are not a power user, your transition to new devices should be pretty simple and straightforward.

If your only using the desktop for surfing and a few MS Office programs and your having no issues, your go to go.
Laptops that are ten+ years old are slow in general, but if you wanted to throw in a SSD drive and maybe upgrade the RAM, that would give it more life.

Short answer: NOPE,enjoy the changes that have happened over that time. We just ordered a new laptop for my Wife. Her system lasted over ten years and while it was just a failed hard drive it was time for a new one.

New. Ten years in the IT world is like 100 years in the real world.

If you can reuse a case, do so.

I usually reuse everything but the board, CPU, and RAM, IF POSSIBLE.

Kind of depends, are they the model with the hand crank on the front or did they come with an electric starter?

We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.

No, no......they have the electric starter. But you do have to pull the choke knob all the way out first.

Good, Manual choke is the best.
