Mostly the Cisco and LAN support personnel. I have a EE degree and a PE and the cyber security guys wouldn't even talk to me about working into that arena.

That's why I commented about not seeing it - you mentioned coding as something certs are relevant for, but I've never seen that.

MIT offers a free online intro to computer science class using python. It's through EDX and self-paced. It's a good place to start.

I quit my last year of my second degree to focus on certs because that's what my employment left me time with. Certs were way more important but my first degree helped me get my job in IT. So both can be important.
