New iPhone?

So I've had my 8+ for about a week or so now, and TBH I am not seeing a difference, other than my old case doesn't fit this one properly (covers the bottom part of the camera). Maybe I'm not using it the way others do so I'm not seeing the improvements everyone was talking about WRT better speed. No big - it works and that's all I really need.

Just tell them that you don't want to waste company money, and save them 200-300 by telling them you want an Android device?

Never fly. Like I said before, our CTO is the very definition of a fanboy (warranted or not). For example, I'll email the tech team about an issue happening with my PC, and his reply (if he ever replies) is "This wouldn't happen if we would just use Macs." Well, thanks, but that really didn't help resolve the issue, now did it?

Point is there's no way they'll ever switch to anything else now. We USED to have the choice of iPhone or BlackBerry, and I had the BB and absolutely loved it.

My company issued Blackberrys for years before switching to iPhones about 5 years ago. The Blackberrys were a nightmare for our phone guy and IT department while the iPhones have been great. Constant hardware/software issues with the Blackberrys. If iPhones had the physical keyboard like the Blackberry it would be perfect for me.

It is hard to say what causes such a disparity of experiences with the same phone. It could have a lot to do with individual use patterns or what you are feeding it from the App store.

I have frequently upgraded in the past "just because" when the current phone was working fine. I have used Droids and iPhones, both having their individual plusses and minuses.

With that said, I am hitting the 2 year mark on my iPhone 6S+ and it still runs like a top. Battery life is essentially unchanged since new despite heavy daily use.

While this may not work for everyone, I deliberately run the phone down to dead every now and again. I don't use any apps that bombard me with adverts. I turn off all of the notifications except phone and text. I keep plenty of available HD space by deleting unused apps. My location stays off too except for when I am using it as a GPS for a particular trip. Dumping the cache and restarting the phone every few days also keeps it running well. Bluetooth is always off except when driving. Oh, and try not to drop it too much.

Iphone X

This looks to be the best iPhone yet. The presales are through the roof. Most people aren't even looking at the 8's. I have a 6 plus and that's been good enough. You can buy a nice gun for one of these.

My order is in for the iPhone X. I currently have an iPhone 7 Plus. I'm on that program through Apple where I pay monthly and get a new iPhone every year...it actually works out better for me than buying outright and then having to deal with trying to sell it or trade it in. Using it to make phone calls is probably what I do least on my phone, so I like to have the latest and fastest as far as handheld computing power goes. I'm definitely looking forward to the iPhone X.

I also have a Samsung S7 from work and a personal Note 8.0 that I've had for about 3 1/2 years. I still love the Note 8.0 despite it being a bit long in the tooth, but I hate using the S7. I don't know why...I used to love Android phones and used them for years, but now, I always get frustrated with the S7 and it just doesn't seem to be as intuitive as older Androids or the iPhone.

I like the Android Interface and I liked my old Note 4. I do wish Apple had the ability to (easily) change the battery, but otherwise the build quality of Samsung Droid phones is rather flimsy. The charging port on Samsung phones is flimsy and surrounded by the plastic shell. That port will bend and crack over time and make it impossible to charge the phone. Having a good case makes no difference. Even if it it just my perception, I feel like the iPhone construction is superior. I recall that story of them being bendable, but I have not experienced that.

I’m a long time iPhone user. When I upgrade I do it for better battery life and more CPU power. I don’t want the X as I like the fingerprint sensor. I don’t want to have to look at my phone to unlock it. Get the 8 or the 8 plus.

I have 7 plus. It's great phone. Much better than Samsung I've used before... Camera is inctedible!

In light of the all the data collection and breaches I moved to a nextbit with lineage os. Used to have iphones and loved them but not being able to control much, I dont want to be a victim of stolen identity etc. It happen a few times with carders taking my info and shopping freely while I was on vacation.

My recommendation is to get the newest model always with iPhones. IOS updates tend to cause issues for older model phones. I don't know if it's intentional or just lazy programming, but that being the case, a newer model will decrease your chances of annoyance and frustration.

The ISO will mess with you older phone. I don't ever update ISO anymore, last time I update my iPad it become so slow can't be use anymore.

What's funny is that I'm not seeing any real change since I got the new one. Speed is about the same, and I almost never have more than 2 bars, anywhere. Usually it's only one bar, even at home when it's feeding off my home WiFi. I am so glad I didn't spend my own money on this thing.

if your company is paying, upgrade. This will also mitigate throttling issues.
