Uninstalled recent programs but Yahoo virus still

    hijacking my searches in Firefox.

Default and Homepage are set to Google, but Yahoo keeps popping up.

Why is Yahoo the only search that hijacks and why can't a big outfit like Google keep ahead of them and release easy fix for everyone as a public service?

    PS-Yahoo sucks.

nope, like I said I've got everything set to Google.

I tried setting to Bing and still hijacked to Yahoo.

Try running malwarebytes to see if it can find and remove the malware.

              in progress

prob is I supposedly agreed to this hijacker when trying to get a PDF editor

real question remains: why doesn't a big outfit like Google stay ahead if these hijackers that take their legit biz away?

there is lot of complaints online about the Yahoo hijacking, lots of hours lost correcting it, etc.

Yahoo isn't doing the hijacking. The malware is redirecting your pages elsewhere. Yahoo is the least of your concerns where it is redirecting, because who knows where else it will start redirecting you to.

Google and Yahoo are just the search engines, it is the malware you need to get rid of.

Its always Yahoo. I have to assume the hijackers get a 1/100th of a cent for every Yahoo hijack as some "bundle partner" deal from Yahoo.

Al Capone don't bust knee caps, Sammy "Squid Lips" Luigi does.

If it was a rouge teenager or even "real hijacker" they'd be directing me to gay animal porn or fake penis pill sites.

Yahoo uses Bing for searches. This might be possible if you're logged into your yahoo account.

                          Definitely do this first.

Also go open Chrome and click on the three dots in the upper right corner.
Go to more tools then clear browsing history.

                          Good luck.

CCleaner has an uninstall programs feature & registry cleaner.
Run the uninstall on the program that gave you free yahoo toolbar, & yahoo if its listed.
then run CCleaner...then the registry cleaner.

CCleaner may be ad supported, so uncheck the box for any extras...

Also check your hosts file to make sure it hasn't been updated. I recommend installing glasswire which documents network activity on your PC. Makes removing malicious content and monitoring your network easy.
