Because of your video editing, I'd go with an AMD Ryzen 7 based system for the extra cores.

Rizen 1700 8-core/16-thread CPU with motherboard and CPU cooler $437. Note that while not top of the line (but very fast) this is bleeding edge new tech and may require a bit of extra setup.

16GB of fast RAM for $137.

You aren't doing heavy duty gaming so I'd go with a GTX1050 video card for $110.

A nice fast 500GB SSD for $160 for your operating system and applications.

3TB 7200rpm HD for your data and videos $80.

A basic mid-tower case $80.

A decent 500w power supply $40.

That's a bit under $1100 plus your operating system, figure $115 for Windows 10 Home (OEM version) on a USB drive.

The 1600x and cooler totaled $275. While the 1700 cost $297 with Wrath Spire cooler. So for $22 more I get 2 more cores, 2 more threads and a cooler.

As far as the ram goes, it is recommended to use Ryzen specific ram. Unfortunately the model you linked wont work. The one that does work is too rich for my blood. But here is the list of Corsair compatible products: http://www.corsair.com/en-us/landing/ryzen

Save a few bucks on your case, re-use storage drives, save a few bucks on the video card if you'll never game. Personally, If it means spending a few extra bucks, try buying from one source (amazon/newegg/whatever) it'll help on return policies, damaged parts, warranties if needed a few months later, and often shipping makes up for any price differences.

looks good but if you are video editing i would go with a bigger 2nd hard drive since it wouldnt be much more. will this be the main storage for the comp or will it be connected to a file server?

I agree. Games and programs are getting pretty freaking big these days. On my Xbox One S I just said eff it and went with an external 4GB HDD Got a good deal for $78! Ebay score haha... You can find external 2GB for under $75. 1GB for like $50.

OP ... Ebay is a really good source of cheap used parts that end up being used once or new out of the box. Some people just sell stuff that their kids leave behind after moving out or roommates leave without paying, bought wrong item and never returned it etc...Plus you always get the ebay guarantee that your **** is as advertised.

MicroCenter has awesome deals on open box and returns. I built my current comp off of mostly discounted and clearance items from them.
