Ever come up to Central CA?

I've got everything for a PC (it was a gaming machine and still very fast when it last ran). I took it all apart and when I put it together again it wouldn't post. Worst case something's wrong with the motherboard and/or CPU but I've got a PSU, GPU, ram, etc. you can have for some ammo.

Well, not piecing together a home built but Digital Storm has some nice computers in that range. I use it for normal office programs (Quickbooks, Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat and Illustrator) as well as Solidworks. I generally keep most if not all of these programs open and the computer has no problem with me doing so.

My old build (which is now in a box of pc parts) which you're welcome to push come to shove. Would prefer to test them before anything though...

                  Current build now

Only difference is I now use a Corsair H100i. The other cooler over time would slowly unseat from the CPU.

The older build ran an I5 4670K, over 16gb of DDR3 (forget the speed), GTX780 nVidia card, all mounted up on an Asus board.

The current setup runs an I7 6770K with 32gb of DDR3 (also not sure of speed anymore), GTX 1080 nVidia card, all on a Gigabyte gaming board. It runs Everything on max and it plays all games on Oculus effortlessly for hours.

Im actually upgrading to your "first" build from an i3. Same exact 4 items. Was thinking about switching it up to MSi tho but kinda partial to ASUS

Anyways OP good luck because $1000 should get you some pretty nice core components. Just make sure to go for a K processor and the latest GPU by nvidia. At the least 780gtx. Now they have 1010gtx (or something) to replace the 780 and its fairly inexpensive

Save money by going with a cheaper case... they still have some nice cheap cases tho. Ive also been running a "lesser" model 650w power supply that has never failed me so also use a higher wattage but "cheaper" PSU company to also try and save cash. Dont let people fool you by saying this certain PSU company is the best or this case is the best etc etc etc

Or you can be a jerk and buy a bad *** PSU, go home, swap it out with a rinky dink old one and return it for a refund...But I wouldnt advise doing that.

I am not going to do your leg work, but ALL computers that you can build for a desktop are going to be under 1000 as long as you have a PSU that costs about $120 or less, MOBO + AMD CPU = $250 or less, RAM = $100 or less, and case = $150 or less. Graphics card will typically run about $60 and usually these things cost about $600 total for entry level browser/general use machine. Additional RAM will up the price about $50 maybe,

I did this for someone the other night and I came into $800 with a souped up graphics card.

Just go to Microcenter and buy a decent refurbished WINDOWS 7 PRO machine, then upgrade the RAM and make any small changes. You can get away with only spending about $500 prolly.

Software license is what sucks. Use freeware or you gotta pay buku bucks to use software (lawfully anyways).
7 Billion people on the planet. They aint ALL gonna astronauts. Some will get hit by trains...

Need GOOD SS pins to clean your brass? Try the new and improved model...

And remember- 99.9% of the lawyers ruin it for the other .1%...
