Just a suggestion, I haven't bothered to use my factory multi-disc CD player in years. Why bother when you can carry 10, 20 or 50 times as much music on your smartphone and play that through a Bluetooth a Bluetooth adapter? I keep 50GB, 80 CDs worth of full CD quality music on my phone. As long as you don't have too much radio traffic in your area the GOgroove FlexSMART X2 Bluetooth to radio adapter works pretty well. In greater LA it can be a struggle to find an open frequency but I get by when I visit and it works great in Hemet.

We've researched and tested the best car accessories, electronic upgrades, car-care products, and more.

My commuter cars's CD player plays MP3s....

You can fit 10 times the music on a CD in MP3 format

Burn for old CDS or the best songs to an MP3.... I can do a 6 hour drive with the same CD playing tunes

Get a Bluetooth FM transmitter for the van and play the songs on your phone through it. This is what I use when make the drive from San Jose to Sacramento: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If you songs are on CDs, just rip and store them in your phone.

Have you considered an 8 track player?

I used to think the same way. However, I haven't used a CD in a vehicle in many years and there are many things that work far, far better. You can get a huge amount of music on a phone. Even more on an iPod. And there are kits available for more modern vehicles (late 90's and on) that make it super easy to connect your phone or iPod to the vehicles stereo. You just plug your phone in when you enter the vehicle and you have access to everything on your iPhone through the stereo interface. I have a system where if I have a playlist I want to play, like my favorite blues songs, I simply press the number 1 button on the car head unit and it starts playing where I left off. It'll even show you the artist and song names. Want a another playlist? Press another button. Button #6 is for choosing songs/albums manually. I probably have two or three hundred albums on my iPhone. Far, far more on my iPod. And the phone or iPod gets charged as it's plugged in.

Yea, you have to "rip" the music you want from a CD or download it, but that's not that big a deal. Once your set up, life is so much easier.

I have one of those adapters in both our vehicles. That way I can have my music with me no matter what I drive. Or my wife and plug her phone in and choose what she wants.

                CD's are SO old school.

Does your radio have an Aux in? If so find (they are a cheap $10-20) a used gen 2 iPod mini (colored body and colored symbols on control wheel that came out in 2005) and pull the mini disc HD and put any size SD card in its place. You will probably have to replace the battery at that time too. There are plenty of how 2 vids up. You can literally have your whole music library with you on one device.

Are you implying modern car stereo tech doesnt work?

Since many no longer use CDs alot of that tech has disappeared.

Dont know why you would think single CD deck players are modern. They are older than those milti players.

So, enjoy being "old school" get yourself a single deck CD player with a CD case full of your CDs.

Or really catch up with the times and get yourself a cheap ipod and dowload all the music you like or stream from your smart phone.

Multi CD players are pretty old school but you might find one at a car audio shop.

Getting back to modern tech, on average you can rip 10 CDs into roughly 1.3GB of 256kps format (very good quality) MP3s that will sound as good as CD's played over an FM adapter. I'd stick a memory card in the phone (if it has a slot) and rip 20-30 CDs, and if you are on an unlimited data plan I'd sign up for one of the music services.

Most Bluetooth to FM adapters suck badly but my GoGroove Bluetooth to FM transmitter works fine in the Hemet, Beaumont, Murrieta area. The Orange County/LA FM dial is pretty crowded so there is a bit of interference there. If you want to see how it works we can meet up this weekend and I'll show you.
