    Video Editing Software for Youtube

    Hi Calguns Techies!

What software would you recommend for editing video clips for submsission onto Youtube?

Dell (IBM) style computer, never did the Apple mac. Would like something that will work with a variety of video codecs.

Using the JVX Addixxion, iVMS-4500 security system, Apple iPhone 6, Unknown micro-usb camera etc.

Im using a mac now but when I was using a PC I had been using Pinnacle software: http://amzn.to/2sR3wQN

On the big scale of things it was pretty simple to use and not too expensive. I was always happy with it.

Freewise I thought Blender was supposed to be good and maybe Microshaft Moviemaker.

Paid for though I dunno, Xara has decent stuff, maybe Vegas, Pinnacle is a hw/sw company that deals in vid capping so they are on their game. Corel Video Studio is supposed to be nice too. Me and mine- I stick with Magix, Corel, Sony Vegas and Cyberlink. I stay away from Adobe. I had a bad experience with Premiere back in '08 and refuse to touch that crap now.

With that said though, Adobe has some CC version of Premiere that is about $20 and it looked decent. I have not played with it (because it is adobe) and I do not know the learning curve, but I would consider giving it a spin.

          Thanks guys for the inputs.

I have zero experience/learning curve here...

Right now I just need to be able to cut sections of video out of a larger file, and then find a video hosting site, kind of like Imageshack but for videos.

For a video file sharing site, I would like to have private and public features, I have to go into my youtube account and experiment.

For video editing, eventually I would like to do a two (or multiple) camera file edit into one screen type edit. This is for a shooter's eye view, body camera view and a down range view.

I apologize for not having my specifications ready when I did the OP, but they are evolving. Again, thank you everyone for your help and making CG a great site.

I just watched this Blender intro...wow...I like how he starts from the beginning with file structure and such and goes on...

Hi Guys, just a quick update...

I've used Windows Video Movie Maker to do basic edits and Youtube private for the hosting with success. Right now the work is not shareable, but when I have something to share, I'll put it up here on Calguns Tech forum for your comments!

Now Windows Encoder is needed to do video in video or Blender...

Give Hitfilm Express a try, it's free.
You will have to create a account to activate it though.

Plus they have tutorial videos that will aid you in learning how to use it.

I use Splice on my smart phone. Free - works well, lots of basic features/editing tools... and you can easily publish to YouTube.

If i'm using AVI's or MOV's via SD card (from a DSLR camera, etc.) I use Camtasia.

Couple hundred bucks for a license, but it's a legit software with a lot of features.
