Sort of. I ran another type of Ethernet to the garage but not in the wall or PVC pipe. It is working fine.

I have some electrical work to do and will have him remove the 'bad' cable for very close inspection and run new.

My tester says the sockets are wired correctly. It is just the LEDs are very dim. Meaning a voltage/current problem. The cable works for data just not PoE.

It's not enough that the wires have continuity from end to end. (pin 1 to pin 1, pin 2 to pin 2, etc.)
They need to have the right colors attached to the right pins to make sure the twisted pairs don't get "split up" or it will not work corectly.

You should verify, double verify, triple verify that the right colors really do go to the right pins on each end according to the diagram below.

This way is OK too, but not as popular as 568b shown above

Does your switch have the ability to power all ports simultaneously? I've seen some switches with the ability to power all ports, but only a few at a time.

Yes, it can. It is handling 2 cameras now. One of which is using a temporary replacement cable for the problem cable.

You said your run went overhead to the garage, does the cable have a messenger? Meaning is it aerial rated?

It is in PVC pipe that also contains telephone cable and TV coax cable.

Sounds like your cable has degraded, your compucable tester won't be able to test for inductance, resistance, insulation condition or capacitance, it only checks pinout.

Did you observe proper minimum bend radius standards when you installed the cable?

Another possibility is that you exceeded the 25 pounds of force allowed by TIA standards when installing the cable.

I am an idiot. In preparing for the electrician tomorrow I figured out what the problem is. See diagram.

I thought D was the other end of B. Tester showed dim lights because it was actually going through the router. And the router does not supply power to A-B so, of course, the cam did not work

I will have the electrician run a new cable from the Den to Garage in the PVC and it will be connected to the PoE switch.

We all make mistakes. Sometimes we forget things and yes, routers are not good to check cable runs from.

When work is done today I need to make a diagram of the cables I have run. I also have bell wire run for a garage door closed light system. Diagrams both for me and any future owner.

Just pull B from bedroom and term it at the POE switch? No need for electrician. Or cut one end of B and tape 2 or more new cat5 or 6 cables and pull to get 2 new runs to garage.

                              Work is done.

Pulled cat-5e to external garage from Den.
Pulled cat-5e to internal garage from Den.
Converted dryer AC circuit to 2 circuits for new sockets in 2 locations.

Will leave A-B for something else. Not sure if I will remove the temp Den-External Garage cat-5e stapled to the underside of the patio cover.

Poe injector would be a lot cheeper than hiring an electrician.
