Dell Inspiron 7567 or Acer VX15

Both with GTX 1050 ti graphics card.

These two have been getting very high marks, both around $800. I've been watching both for a couple months now.

Dell Outlet for Dell/Alienware, you can get refurbished, open box, scratch dent etc for half retail sometimes. Not too long ago they had refurbished Alienware 13" laptops with pretty decent GPUs for 500 bucks.

I'm sure you're aware that the PX system is alive and well, even in the CZ. I was on Kandahar and the PX had an extensive gaming section. If you're gathering info for him, that's fine, but I wouldn't buy a laptop here and ship it to him, too expensive and potential for theft. He can probably order what he wants, too.

Thanks for both his service and your support!

ASUS ROG and they are currently sold at Costco. I would recommend you buy the laptop there and get the warranty Costco offers as well.

+1 for a MSI, I just recently bought one that is pretty much fully loaded as far as a laptop goes. I picked mine up on sale though online and got a really nice discount on it..

Alienware was purchased by Dell several years back and NOT considered high end gaming suitable anymore. The top of the line retail would be the Acer Predator 21x only $8,999.

ASUS ROG or MSI. My last 2 laptops were ASUS ROG. I never had any issues but they did run hot. My current laptop is a MSI G72. It runs much cooler and has no issues running current games. I have even run my HTC Vive off of it.

JayzTwoCents, a youtuber who makes a living off computer hardware recently reviewed a gaming laptop. In his review, he agrees "gaming laptops" are usually significantly more expensive, heavy, and not quite as good as desktops but are great for high-power mobile computing. For a really good laptop gaming computer, its easily $3000 for exceptional power.

MSI and ASUS make good products; but again, power and speed costs money, how fast do you need to go?

Love my Alienware, but have seen great results from MSI, and Asus, and Gigabyte

                              Refurbished Razer Blade:

There was one on sale 2 weeks ago for $800. Watch for sales. The inventory changes all the time.
