Firestick - KODI

Was reading this thread, and didn't want to muck it up.

I found the Kodi site, and well, it's confusing. I assume you load new firmware onto the Firestick. For some reason, it's not clear how this is done and what to download....

I have TWO Firesticks... Amazon does not keep track of last position in a series on the Cloud. It appears to be stored on the stick. For example, say you are on season 1, episode 2 of 'Some Sitcom'. If you go to the OTHER Firestick, I don't believe it knows you were watching Some Sitcom. So I run from one TV to the other and quickly read where it was, then to the other TV and sych it...

The weird thing is that Netflix - does store your last 'viewing' in the Cloud as both Firesticks (once you get to Netflix) are synched...

The Firestick I had was terrible w/ response times, even only running native Amazon crap!!!

MUCH happier with a Quad-core 2GHz Droidbox with a remote that has immediate response times.

I don't know if the newer sticks are any good, but for ~$85+shipping the Droidbox T-8 Mini was great (now "DroidBox T8-S Plus v2 LibreELEC" replaces it)!

LibreElec (just enough Android OS to run Kodi), alternatively is pretty cool too.

There are KODI installation videos on Youtube. Some seem easy to follow. Others are confusing. I bought a Firestick on Ebay with KODI already installed for about $15 over the best price of a Firestick alone and it works great. The KODI interface is less intuitive than a regular remote. One time I screwed something up ao I sent a message to the Ebay seller and they got right back to me with a fix.

This is the Ebay seller I used. Prices have gone up considerably. You may be able to find a better deal. The pictures of the interface in the Ebay ad is exactly how mine looks.

I have another Firestick I'm thinking about trying to jailbreak myself, but dread thinking about typing everything without a keyboard.

KODI works, but it is a little finicky. My wife won't use it. No patience.

If you download the firestick app, you can type using your phone.

If you're using exodus, log in with a trakt account and it will keep track of your favorites and watched episodes.

Whatever shows you add in your trakt manager, will show up in my tv shows->collections

I think it works with the other addons too, but I usually use exodus so I'm not too sure.

yes because netflix you are signed into and kodi is not linked to a specific account like netflix is -- this is why if you have two fire sticks they will each be different bc its not like you have to sign in to kodi ... if i understand your question correctly. hope this helped
