I have done something, I know not what, that does not allow me to see youtube videos in posts, even when I post the youtube video. Anyone have any idea what I have goofed up?

It happens occasionally
I embed and post the link
Some update must have hiccupedRule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)
Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
(thanks to Jeff Cooper) -
^ If you aren't seeing that, it's probably your browser. You might have some funky race condition where Adobe Flash might be trying to load and failing out, without giving HTML5 a chance to load.

IF you can not see it then there must be a placeholder telling you that it is there but needs an update to see and click there to update...
Check your settings. Perhaps you have it blocked in external links or something like that.
Worst case, RESTART your browser in SAFE mode and see if that fixes it. Maybe then you can also reset it to original settings and load your plugins again.7 Billion people on the planet. They aint ALL gonna astronauts. Some will get hit by trains...

If using Firefox and using https (https://calguns.net, rather than http://calguns.net) I have noticed that I cannot see embedded youtube vids.
I usually post the link to the vid just under the vid for that reason... but the traffic is more secure than just plain-texting your posts to the Internet where anyone in the middle can catch the data. I don't know how secure https is (recently I heard the most insecure encryption was dropped from use in https), but I like to be a monkey-wrench in the gears whenever possible...Comment

It's because Calguns' certificate is expired or something like that and Mozilla (in my example) does not recognize the site and will not show some content that is linked from the site. It will show images but not inline YouTube videos.
The solution in most cases is to click on the little padlock symbol to the left of the address bar and disable the authentication protection. This doesn't always work, however; I don't always see the option to disable it.
Calguns needs to fix its certificate.
I do not believe YouTube uses Flash anymore. Most of the web has moved away from Flash. It is insecure and you ought to block it in your browser.Originally posted by cockedandglockedGetting called a DOJ shill has become a rite of passage around here. I've certainly been called that more than once - I've even seen Kes get called that. I haven't seen Red-O get called that yet, which is very suspicious to me, and means he's probably a DOJ shill.Comment

YouTube will still load flash, but it uses HTML5 as default. Which is why I was thinking the OP's browser is in some weird state where Flash is trying to load, but can't complete, yet the fact that it loads is preventing the HTML5 YouTube player from instantiating.

I was trying tonight to post an I trader rating and I kept getting a "Invalid URL" message after clicking on the submit link. I saw your post here. I clicked on the deal thread and pasted it into the deal url box, but before clicking on the "Submit" link, I removed The "S" in the HTTPS url link and I'll be a SOB, it worked.
In the future, I'll have to remember to do this. I'm very computer illiterate, I'm surprised I figured it out, thanks to your post, it got me thinking.
Thanks.Comment
