My current Galaxy S6 battery life is horrendous, so I'm thinking of maybe getting an upgrade soon. I've had a few of the early iPhone's and liked them at the time. I'm on my 3rd or 4th Galaxy now. Any reason to go with the iPhone 7 over the S7? Or should I wait till the Galaxy S8 comes out in 6 months and suck up the crappy S6 battery life?

iPhone 7 vs Galaxy S7

If there is nothing wrong but the battery life I'd wait til the S8 comes out.
My dog chewed my S7 Edge screen and now I have to fight to get it to light up sometimes.
If I can champ it out you can man lol..
I've sworn off iPhones myself. Too restrictive in my opinion.
They got a great user-friendly streamlined software and design, but I like my freedom to download whatever I want, being able to customize my phone to my liking, and expandable memory.
And for whatever reason Apple keeps lagging on waterproofing their phones.
What kinda sh*t is "splash proof" haha..Comment

Gave up FB 'bout two tears ago. Which background apps should I turn off? I can try that to see if it makes a difference.Nikita Khrushchev said"We can't expect the American People to jump from Capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving them small doses of Socialism, until they awaken one day to find that they have Communism. Turning off bluetooth and wifi when you are not using them will help conserve battery. With those off they will not be continuously searching. The battery life for my S7 is outstanding. I will use an app on my 15 min breaks and hour lunch and still have over 50% left when I get home even leaving on BT and wifi. If you really want great battery life and don't mind a bit bigger phone go with the note. My wife's will last more than like five days sitting on standby. If the women can't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.Comment

I'm running a Galaxy S4 while i try to decide on a new phone. Battery life was starting to be absolutely horrible. Picked up a new battery from Anker through Amazon for about 12 bucks. Fixed so many weird issues that were plaguing the phone.
If you're going to be waiting a while, I strongly recommend replacing the battery.Comment

Could always go with a external battery pack.
Sorry, not sorry.

Dear autocorrect, I'm really getting tired of your shirt!Comment

Went to Verizon to check out phones. The Galaxy s7 felt cheap compared to my S6 so the S7 isn't enough to sway me, plus I want a bigger screen. Played with the Apple iPhone 7 and liked it especially the bigger screen and the home button and how it's "physical". Just not sure I'm ready to switch back to the iOs operating system. I'm thinking I'll wait till around the new year and see what Samsung has in store for the s8.Nikita Khrushchev said"We can't expect the American People to jump from Capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving them small doses of Socialism, until they awaken one day to find that they have Communism. I used to work for a company that bought and sold cell phones/tablets. Imo Samsung has put out a better product with better innovations every upgrade. Apple makes great stuff but they have lost the edge with making substantial upgrades with the same exuberant price tag.Comment

Most of these top tier phones have hit parity in features and performance. They may have one feature that is noticeably better, but on the average they are all pretty much the same.
So it really comes down to do you want the ease of use and more closed off controlled experience of iOS or do you want the more customizable open nature (but potentially with more issues) of Android.
That's really it. I have enough devices to keep track of between work and home. So have been going back to apple every time. I just want my phone to work and to not have to think about it.
I know plenty of people that go samsung because they want to be able to make their phone just so.
Either way, IMO, at this point, it's all basically the same.
As for the iPhone 7 specifically, I bought one and returned it on open after thinking about it. Yes the waterproof and the better camera were nice, but there was no real must have feature as an upgrade to justify the cost. I'm waiting a half a year longer for the iPhone 8 before I upgrade. I can make it half a year more, get the camera and waterproof then, plus whatever new features Apple decides to add. It'll be a better value to spend all that money at that point.
BTW, you can always spring to replace the battery in your current phone if you are having trouble making it to the next new phone release date. Iv'e done that a couple of times. It's worth the $50 or $60 to get it done. (Or get the kit and do it yourself if you are handy).Last edited by Iknownot; 01-11-2017, 5:08 PM.Comment

I have always used Macs and iPhones and iPads. Now that Apple jacked up the price on the MacBook Pro, I replaced my 2012 MBP with a Dell XPS 15. I am also considering switching from my iPhone 6S Plus to a Samsung S8 when they come out.
I have had an S7, and honestly Android vs iOS is six of one and half dozen of the other. They are basically the same thing, with just slightly different interfaces. Apple has led the way in innovation for a long time, but lately I think Android and Android devices have pulled ahead.
Apple as a company seems to be stagnating. They have lost the eye of the tiger, as Tim Cook has taken the company increasingly political. Everyone knew Steve Jobs was liberal, but he did not mix politics with business in the way that Tim Cook has.
Tim Cook has taken Apple in an in-your-face SJW direction, I think to the detriment of innovation. I am not bullish on Apple, I think they are returning to the 90s. It seems like all Apple is concerned about anymore is thinner iPhones and new Watch bands.Comment
