I worked for Cox and after I quit when they moved from rancho Santa Margarita to phoenix I cut the cord. I kept internet and I am stoked. I have Netflix and hbogo and I use firestick with Kodi. More than I can ever keep up with and no commercials ever.

          Easy: never had it.

And when we wanted it, we built a micro-ATX board PC using left over parts from previous PC's (we have three other desktops in the house, and we use a trickle down system for upgrades). It's got more than enough power for streaming at 1080p, and it cost us nothing. Add a Lenovo N5902 keyboard/mouse combo remote that fits in your hand, and you're set for all the streaming you'd want.

As for streaming services, well, if you do it the way I do it:

But the real plus side to all of this is that we have a Windows 7 PC hooked up to our 42" TV, so we can do a lot more with that than the average "Smart TV" or one of those dongle things like the FireTV

Dow did you guys do it? What is your setup?
My apartment complex paid for my cable up until about a year ago. When they stopped paying it was no big deal for me. Cable TV is 90% crap anyways. I still have my internet, so between Netflix and various streams I follow for NFL games I'm good.

Also, I have a pretty decent pc and monitor, so watching anything on there is great, and I always have the option to hook my pc up to my big screen TV if I wish.

The issue isn't downloading files, you MUST watch your upload settings. Make sure your upload rate is either 0 or the lowest possible setting. Also, once you've downloaded it remove the file from you download client and don't seed it. It's been many many years since I've gotten cease and desist letters since I've been following these guidelines I've mentioned.

I always stop seeding once after download. I learned that

Had U-300, but cut it down to U Basic ($20 per month). Started using Roku for streaming, bought Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime.

Amazon Firestick with KODI lets me see everything I want. Amazon Prime for that content.

Wife doesn't like the KODI interface, so we have Netflix and HULU. My kids also use Netflix and HULU accounts at college. Sometimes there is a conflict if we have too many devices using the account at the same time, but that is rare.

I also have an outdoor set-up on the patio. 3300 lumen LCD projector with 800 x 600 native resolution, 10 X 7 foot screen but the viewing area changes depending upon the video format, and a Bluetooth speaker located close to the viewers.

We paid for "Star Trek Beyond" on Amazon Prime Friday night because the KODI version was a very bad bootleg.

We watched "Hunt for the Wilderpeople" using KODI last night. Lighthearted comedy from New Zealand. Starts off slowly and doesn't seem very interesting but it picks up.
Here's a pic of my outdoor setup. I was watching "Goliath."
