    Recommened Voip Phone Service

Anyone recommend a good Voip phone service. Many seem geared to businesses. I just pretty basic stuff for home only, which has four wireless phones in the house. Was looking at one 1Voip.

Cost effective with 500 included minutes to US & Canada. Save on average 53% when you switch to 1-VoIP.

$8.97 a month and about $28 to set up as I recall.

    Thoughts or recommendations?

I use ooma. It works well. I pay about 15 bucks a month. This is for all the bells and whistles, long distance And two phone lines. You will need to purchase a piece of equipment (about one hundred dollars).

ooma is really good. you can find the box on sale for as low as $50 at times. you can get free long distance unlimited calling plus e911 for $5 a month or so. you are only paying the taxes and e911 each month. they do have add on that gives more options but i found the basic is good enough.

I had basictalk at $9.99 a month. Worked well. I transferred my cellphone number over and it worked flawlessly. Then I needed my cellphone again for work so I stopped it, but I'd use it again.

At present, Voip is pretty settled, technology wise. Government and other businesses are using it, so it becomes a question of what price point you can stand for the services offered.....

I used nettalk. Works flawless, renewal cost $90 for 2 years, all taxes/fees included, $3.75 per month...

If you can find an old ooma box it's free , they even pay the taxes. I believe it is pre 2010 is when it switched .

Another Ooma user here. Around $6 month to pay for taxes gets you the basic service plus around $110 a year if you want the premium features.

                        Google Voice + ObiTalk

After paying $50 for the Obi200, it's free.

I've been using Google Voice for over 5 years now and haven't payed for a "land line" since. I've got 3 numbers (3 GMail accounts), one for business, one for home, and one I take with me when I travel. Just need an internet connection.

Edit: Just found out ObiTalk now charges an annual fee of $10.00 for "Upgrades and Warranty." Still a good deal.

Ooma, I've had them 10 years with no problems.
