Milsurps: No disrespect, but you absolutely do not know what you're talking about. Please do some research on how email works and how spam works.

And No, I do not use hotmail nor I ever used any microsoft email services.

I'm another early Hotmail adopter, still with them (I have a 4character email address). Ironic as it may be, Hotmail works way better on google's Chrome than Internet Explorer

It's because all Hotmail/outlook.com accounts moved to Office 365. It is now an Exchange based system. To access your Hotmail account, just use any email client that can do IMAP, which is almost all of them.

Check this link for the IMAP settings:

How to configure an Outlook.com IMAP account in Outlook. Once configured, you can use it to upload mail to the Outlook.com servers.

                outlook.com is actually pretty good.

While I do use google mail for the MX on a few of my domains (grandfathered in before they started charging), I use Office 365 for work (moved from on-premise Exchange to cloud). If you use office apps, O365 is definitely the way to go.

I'm not a fan of any Google Apps beyond Google Mail. Calendaring? If you're only using it for yourself just to track your own things, then it's fine. But if you're doing collaborations as far as scheduling meetings and the like, Google Calendar is absolute garbage. I can't stand Google Docs. But I digress.

Google Mail is still probably the best managed cloud email service. But don't knock outlook/o365. Microsoft is actually doing quite well with their cloud apps solution, and Azure AD is going to help them stay relevant once people start getting rid of on-premise Windows infrastructure and go to managed cloud solutions.
