GPT vs DYNAMIC... WTF MAN? JUST DO IT!

Minor rant...

So I fought and fought to get this new system setup and I was getting frustrated that the usb was not booting and the cd/dvd drive was giving me some boot mgr missing error and I decided to swap the position of the usb dvd with the usb stick that I had finally formatted winblows 7 on and what do I get?

Windows 7 finally boots. I guess there was an issue with the usb port on the case...

So I am about to setup windows and I tell it to install on the 120gb drive and I see- CAN' T DO IT. IT IS A DYNAMIC DISK!

I JUST went through this with another system but why I have to connect the drive to another version that is running and tell the disk manager to change the disk to a basic disk and then .00001 seconds later it is done and I can go back and install windows is BEYOND ME.

Why the hell does the installer not do it on its own? Oh that is a dynamic and it needs to be a basic or GPT? Not a problem, let me fix that for you...

Am I missing something here?

SHIFT-F10 will get you a CMD prompt during setup. From there, you can use diskpart to change the Dynamic disk to a Basic, or even a GPT to MBR (UEFI BIOS required to boot from GPT).

Sounds like you're using disks leftover from a server upgrade?

I bought a "new" SSD to test out and I kept having issues where winblows was telling me I needed a driver. I was loading up every driver possible but low and behold, the problem was several.
1. Poor connections on the front usb ports. Barely touching results in ERROR LOADING OPERATING SYSTEM.
2. Legacy vs UEFI (I thought I was educated in that already but clearly I was wrong)
3. The disk DID actually say it was a BASIC disk when I hooked it up to my cradle on my master system, but there was ONE partition that was on it that showed it was dynamic. I deleted all that I could, put it back in and during the setup I deleted the other partition and the problem cleared up. All been fine since.
4. Damn controller card was not Windows 7 compatible as well so that threw me off when I saw the dvdrom drive in the bios and the card bios along with the HD, but the system fails to boot from the dvdr drive or the old HD with windows XP on it. Well, Windows XP gave me a BSOD and then just instantly reset...
