HDMI wireless transmitter/receivers

Looking at possible going this route to avoid running a lot of wires. TV would be like 20-25ft from satellite receiver, pretty much line of sight. with only a door in between if the door is closed, which it rarely is.

Anyone have an experience with them? Brand recommendations?

My dad messed with one for his home theater setup and he's just not that good with technology. And mind you, this was a couple years ago so it wasn't as good as it might be today. He couldn't get it to work, and after calling a home theater setup place, he found out they stopped selling them for all the problems they created.

Also, while you're not likely to replace your theater tech ever 2 years but with the way the bandwidth is increasing for 4k and UHD TVs (and future), I'm pretty confident HDMI 2.2 will be superseded by something better in the coming years. Check the layout of the house's wiring, and see if you can simply run a 50ft HDMI cable in an existing conduit or in the attic overhead. It'll be cheaper and more likely to work consistently.

It would be interesting to see if they've improved wireless HDMI though, so feel free to tell me i'm relying on old info.

Is wireless HDMI basically what the Direct TV wireless receiver thing is they're always advertising?

I'm not sure, I don't have direct TV nor have i seen their advertisements. In simple terms its like a wifi signal but only for TV signal. What you do is plug an HDMI cable into your satellite box, that then goes to a transmitter. The receiver is then plugged into your TV's HDMI plug.

Yes I realize that. I was just saying that if that's what Direct TV is selling as a commercial product the quality must be decent right?

The Ford Pinto was an advertised commercial product.

I'm more of a keeping things simple and known to work, such as using a really long cable. But you should wait and see if someone else has used or recommends a wireless HDMI.

quadcopter guys are doing wireless HDMI HD so seems home use should be a snap. I'm a caveman so I drag a 50' HDMI cable from my office out to the projector in the backyard

Have you looked into HDMI extenders over Ethernet?

Yeah, over ethernet is the way to go over a distance and also futureproof yourself.

I use a Actiontec HDMI wireless device so I can get TV in both my home office area and the kitchen, works pretty well.

The thing is though, you might want to also get a HDMI splitter if you plan to connect additional items like Slingbox. I tried daisy chaining with the Actiontec but my TiVo will give me the HDMI connection not allowed message. If I just have the TiVo and Actiontec, it works fine.

I also use the Actiontec to get my external camera images to a TV in the bedroom.

Are there multi receiver wireless hdmi adapters? My kids rarely watch TV at the same time, so I could probably get a directv rf remote to control one box, and let them share it, saving one mini genie rental/month fee.

Anyone know if RF remotes work with genie Mini's?

60 GHz is right at O2 resonance. Used primarily for satellite to satellite comm.

As far as HDMI Wireless, Actiontec uses traditional WiFi and works very well.
