"Pride costs us more than hunger, thirst, and cold." - Thomas Jefferson -
cox is at a downside because they have to legally get their content. if everyone ditched paid cable and switched to Kodi there wouldnt be much new content out there. After years of Cox billing increases and no improvement in availability of programming or movies I now have a fireTVstick.
Movies or regular programs can be streamed commercial free and it is good.
I'm tired of reruns and constant commercials offered from Cox.
Will streaming devices be the end of cable TV as we know it?
Remember the cable promise of commercial free television?
Yeah that was a lie. List your alternative device and why it is better than cable.

fireTVstick
I chucked my charter cable tv, kept charter Internet and went Playstation VUE. It works with the firestick. There were a couple of channels I had to sacrifice, but I am saving $120 per MONTH.

What new content? Nothing but reruns on every channel.
Most bundles have a lot of sport channels added which I never watch.
Paying for content I never watch sucks. Finding reruns on every channel sucks.
My desire is to have every movie ever made available 24/7 and I would be more than willing to pay for such a service.
Reminds me of when I paid for HBO. I could find one movie per month that I wanted to watch. Not worth the cost.
So many movies simply never make the play list but several keep coming around and around.
Hard to find a good movie offered on any premium station. Yes, I'm really picky about what I want to watch.
Seems to me I had more to watch when there were only three stations.
Rant off YMMV.

this is whats new on monday.....What new content? Nothing but reruns on every channel.
not every studio wants to put their contact online but there are plenty of movies between itunes or amazon than there is netflix. there are more and more legal options out there but lets not fool our selfs into thinking kodi is legit. My desire is to have every movie ever made available 24/7 and I would be more than willing to pay for such a service.Comment

The program list
HAHA That list is proof that tv programming really does suck.
Almost nothing there that I ever want to watch.
Then there is the constant and very long commercial interruptions.
Movies Movies Movies. No commercials.
I've been streaming movies on Utube and so far it is actually better than kodi.
The movies on kodi all are very recent 2014-2016 unless the magic old movie spot eludes us.
Does fishmonger have a connection to the cable companies?
I do find a bit of irony in that Cox provides cable an internet.
It's as if they are competing against themselves. Might as well pull the plug on the tv and go directly to internet for everything.

thats a different argument. nothing new is different than nothing worth watching. though there must be something worth watching if so many people are using kodi to get the content.HAHA That list is proof that tv programming really does suck.

there are ways around the ads as well. dish has the hopper other dvrs you can skip if you use media center you can have it set up to remove the ads as well.
some cable companies have stopped offering tv and just internet. as more people stop getting cable they will start charging more for internet to make up for the cost.Comment

Ditched the cable box long ago. Using Roku for streaming as they are the only ones that support Amazon video. 30 dollar hd antennae for local channels. I really don't miss tv at all... COX seemed all too happy to take back my box with no recovery effort.Comment
