AMD GPU problem, any help out there?

so I finally went and bought a new graphics card so I can play No mans sky when it comes out in a couple months, as well as a few other games i have kicking around.

I picked up a R9 380X card, but for the life of me I can't figure out a driver issue that seems to be running rampant among windows 10 users who have the same card. Basically the video driver crashes randomly and then win 10 restarts the driver. what ends up happening is if playing a game it freezes and the screen goes black booting you back to desktop. you then get a generic message about the driver crashing and restarting but with no crash log or any way to find out why the driver crashed.

anyone have this experience and have you found a way around it?
    my system specs are currently:

    AMD A10 7850 APU
    Asrock A88x extreme 6 mobo
    16 GB 2100 speed ram
    XFX AMD radeon R9 380X
    and windows 10
blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah
blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah
blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah

    Wow drivers are no good.

My recco is to keep searching "R9 380X WINDOWS 10 crash" and variations of that and you might eventually find something.

Also, as MUCH as I am an AMD fan boy, I was an Nvidia fan boy long before AMD bought out that other company. Wow. ATI. LMAO. I hate to say it but You should consider taking back that card and getting an NVidia.

Also, Did you have your windows updated to the latest version? I heard there were issues unless you were on 10162 or something.

As for me, if AMD does not play nicely with any nVidia cards in MY game system, then I will be looking towards Wintel and dropping AMD from my game system lineup.

Good luck. please be sure to update the thread when you get this fixed.

I considered taking the card back but nvidia is having a problem right now as well

I am in the windows 10 insider program, so I pretty much have the newest version at all times. this problem goes back about 6 months for some people yet AMD has yet to publicly acknowledge the issue despite the thousands of posts for help on their forum.

Probably just have to wait until AMD comes up with a driver fix.

That's also why I am avoiding windows 10 until I have no other option. My NVIDIA drivers work great! Don't want bugs and crashes.

Nvidia had issues but they just released a new beta driver that is supposed to fix a lot of the problems.

Personally speaking though; well, we all know what I am gonna say. Let's just get it out on the table now, I am running Windows XP on my gaming system. I just left XP for Windows 7 last July on my master system.
I have NO plans to move to 8 or 10 anytime soon. I do not give a **** about being a trailblazer. It is a computer and I want it to work, by now they have fixed just about EVERY issue with windows 7 and many hardware combos.

I do not need to tell you that you should go back to 7, but maybe that is the fix for what is happening with folks. On one hand you are happy that you get to be a FIRST to do a lot of cool things, but on the other hand when you dance on the cutting edge of technology, you tend to get cut a lot...

I would still put my bets on Nvidia fixing their issues before AMD...

Hell, make an image of your comp, load up windows 7 and when they DO fix it, put that image right back on and have fun...

soooo.... I found the solution to the problem just incase anyone else had the same problem.
the solution was to return the XFX R9 380X and get an Asus R9 390 instead

While it cost me about 80 bucks more then the 380 it actually works with windows 10 and performs way better.
After searching around a bunch i found the one correlation to my problem was people using the XFX graphics cards. It seems that although they claim to support windows 10 they do so pretty badly. spend the extra money and get a better card

Glad to see it worked out for you.

I have stayed away from XFX since the computer shows at Pomona Fairplex.

I ONCE bought a high performance XFX card at a show and it performed great. I was like, WOW this is an awesome card, I wanna buy a few more and then when I started looking for more places to buy them online I started seeing bad things about them and people trash talked them like they were garbage. I felt bad that I had sold that card to someone, but he never had any issues with it so it must have been a decent card. Ever since then I have always stayed away from anything XFX related. They have neato graphics, but they are jinxed as far as I am concerned.

              EVGA for me...

yea it actually happens with any usb corded mouse in windows 10. I run a mionix naos 8200. not really a problem as my pc only gets restarted or turned off during updates.

I bought a windows 10 PC for my parents to replace their dinosaur PC and it "forgets" about the networking/bluetooth card every now and then. W10 drivers are garbage.

I'm willing to bet it's more a problem with Win 10 than AMD. Granted historically AMD/ATI has had lackluster drivers compared to nVidia, but I have a Win 10 Intel/nVidia gaming PC and have had 2 crashes myself, even though it's newly built as of a few weeks ago. I think it might be the game I was playing (FarCry 4) because I played another game and haven't had a crash since. I figured I'd give Win 10 a fair shake even though it's early, but if I keep having issues I'm going back to Win 7 myself. My gaming experience with Win 8.1 was disappointing.
