Need help with a movie made w/ iPhone

I'm an Android user but for my situation, don't think it matters.

A friend took a video of an event of which 1/2 the video is shot in portrait mode (when it should be landscape). Therefore the person being filmed looks like he's lying on his back. Is there software (preferably freeware) available that allows me to "move" the video so it can be seen without moving my neck to one side?

I'm not sure what you are asking, but any movie editing software allows you to rotate anything you are importing. If you have a PC, MS movie maker is free. Apple iMovie is free if you are in the apple-verse. I'm sure there are free editing software programs in the droid-verse.

Yes, there is movie software that will ROTATE your video. But to fix video that someone shot in vertical format? Well, I have heard that you can't fix stupid...

Look for media rotation or movie rotation. There are utilities that can rotate things.

If 1/2 was filmed improperly, you are gonna have a screwed up video, but I would proceed by cuting the modie where it is improperly shot and correctly shot, rotate the bad portion and then recombine the video footage, but that means that you will have excessive black bars on that one portion of the video because you will have to crop it out. Or it might just look a little funny if you do not.
