iphones seem more sandboxed. You can do more with android without 'jailbreaking' (rooting for android speak) your phone and if you do it; the vendor that made the phone probably doesn't care. Also seems to be some hackery stuff available I don't think iPhones have (like scripting programs...).
Also; androids seem to have a long life cycle. I keep buying used G2 android phones for $50 to replace those I break... still works with nav, voice recognition, hulu, netflix, pandora, et cetera.... no real loss in not upgrading...

you could buy one of those $50 g2s on ebay and drop your t mob sim card in it and it should just work. No call to support needed...
