An "old" game that is "brutal"...

Xcom Enemy Within + The Long War mod. Never before in the modern era of gaming have I found a game where the hardness settings were honestly named.

Setting it to Brutal and the game WILL brutalize you, anally, with a spiked club.

Impossible is just that. If you really want to put salt on the wound, there is Ironman mode.

It is an older Unreal 3 engine game, but it is fun. It's been a long time since I have been challenged this much by a video game. I had set the setting to brutal and forgot and was commenting to my wife that this game is brutal.. oh.. well, yes it is.

I'd recommend the game if you enjoy tactical combat and games that shove spikey things up your rectum.
...but their exists also in the human heart a depraved taste for equality, which impels the weak to attempt to lower the powerful to their own level, and reduces men to prefer equality in slavery to inequality with freedom.

    Sounds horrible
Welcome to OT, where hypocrisy is King, outrage is Queen and the Kingdom is on the shores of the Denial River.

To me the long war is what the game should be from the get go. I tried to complete Ironman and the long war a few times but I was never able to complete it due to save game errors so I haven't bothered with Ironman since.

            Which Xcom is this?

I have the FIRST and the Second, where it was the first like, 16 bit color almost nintendo graphics, and then the second one that was under water, where the aliens have a base on mars or somewhere where you have to go, and then I have aftermath and afterlight I think, like 3 and 4, but at some point they split this game up because XCOM was also called UFO in the european community or SOMETHING. I grabbed the last version they came out with and damn it was only meant for Windows 7... My XP did not like it. I did enjoy Aftermath though. Something about a turn based/ RTS game where you must survive in a post apocalyptic world and you start with a guy who has a 1911 and you get to go from encounter to encounter and keep all of the weapons that you salvage and find. I especially liked entering the bases and clearing them out to find huge caches of weapons when it was all done.

I am thinking that the Enemy within is the last one they came out with...

So is this the last one they came out with?

Latest one plus a massive mod to improve on the game.

Legend of the Red Dragon. You can get killed in your sleep.

It has been a while since I have played any games.
