That fact that you're being purposely obtuse about his statement suggests otherwise. You know very well what he means.

        Trial details coming out now:

STEPHENVILLE, Tex. — On the way to the outdoor resort where former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle was killed, he sent a text message to the friend sitting next to him about the third man in the truck: “This dude is straight-up nuts.”

Kyle’s text message about Routh was introduced by one of his defense attorneys, Tim Moore. Kyle and Littlefield had taken Routh to the resort at the request of Routh’s mother, who told them the veteran was struggling with mental illness. Littlefield responded to Kyle’s text message with one of his own indicating he was concerned, too.

“He’s right behind me. Watch my six,” Littlefield wrote, using a military phrase meaning “watch my back.”

Erath County District Attorney Allan Nash told the jury that Kyle was shot five times in the back and side and once in the side of the head with a powerful .45-caliber pistol. Littlefield was shot four times in the back, once in the hand and once in the head with Kyle’s 9mm Sig Sauer pistol, which had a Navy anchor engraved on it and was later found, reloaded, with Routh when he was arrested, Nash said.

What a tragedy, both the deceased appear they knew they had bit off more than one should attempt to chew.

I am sure most of the stories Kyle told while in the Military were able to be verified. All the family issues can be verified by his wife. The way he died can mostly be proven. He is a great American in my book.
I certainly don't consider myself a liberal, but I might ask, what have you done for your country without getting paid or receiving a medal?
So you think people go into the military for the money and recognition really. I guess people like George Washington are not patriots and heros because they he got paid and got some medals ? Sometimes I think some Americans will not understand what our military do for us until we have lost our freedom (that they preserve) and we have to fight for ourselves. Is that you Kanye ?

Being a "hero" or doing something heroic doesn't automatically mean the person was also an angel or a Saint.

                WOW!

I'm surprised they ever turned their backs on the guy if that was how they felt.

Maybe you should re-read his first sentence again.

                    I don't get that either.

Why the expectation that someone that killed 100+ or 200+ people is going to be a "regular" guy?

He was exceptional, to be that exceptional in one area comes at a price in others. He happened to have the personality traits and probably the mental focus to be an exceptional killer. The downside, he clearly told tall tales and probably did other foolish things. He was a warrior not a kindergarten teacher.

The only reason that would make him bad is because your expectation is wrong. He didn't just go about killing random people. He had a job and a purpose. If he's bad, we're all bad. All he did is what we asked him to do, and he did it well.

Some asked why he and his buddy would be around someone they though was dangerous. He did that stuff every day for years. You don't ask why a lion tamer is in the ring with a lion.

The beauty (although tends to be slipping since 9/11, can't wait for the Saudi pages released or the no WMD's) of this country is we are free to express our opinions and have different beliefs. I enjoy the Blue pill.

Speaking of Mr. Washington, a great General and our 1st Pres. Did you know he signed the Constitution? Sure you do. Know what it says?
