    Bolt action for lefties?

I'm a lefty and I'm curious if its worth it to look for a left handed bolt gun? Or if I should just suck it up and get a right handed rifle and learm how to shoot right handed?

I've learned the over the bolt manipulation fairly well, but I am keeping my eye out for Mossberg's MVP in a LH version.

Bought a LH Weatherby back in the 80s. Only bolt gun I own, all the RH ones went down the road.

For a pure bench shooter, a left handed rifle is nice but you can adapt to a right handed gun. For anything else, a lefty gun feels way more natural.

I was looking at a right handed one earlier today. Its a very light rifle.

Are you a true "lefty"...left hand AND eye dominant?

I shot lefty throughout my Marine Corps career due to the PMI asking who was left handed on the first day at the range in Boot Camp and then telling those of us that raised our hands how we were going to shoot.

Several years later during my first trip to the pistol range was when I found out that I was right eye dominant and could have just as easily been shooting the rifle righty. Always shot expert though so it wasn't an issue, other then getting beat up by brass, since I was facing the wrong way on the firing line.

When I bought my first civilian bolt action rifle I went with a right handed weapon as left handed ones were few and far between. Never had any issues hitting what I aimed at with it and I am now pretty much ambidextrous with weapons.

I was born left hand and eye dominant. My mother was superstitious so I write right handed now. I know this sounds like I'm a total retard but I'm not sure which hand I should shoot with but I'm most comfortable left handed.

I'm a lefty. I have always shot lefty even while in the Marine corps for 10+ years with a right handed rifle. Tomorrow I pick up my first rifle ever its a right handed savage model 11 combo kit from turners. My personal thoughts for my first rifle was to buy something pretty much ready setup out of the box for a decent price. with my thoughts in the near future with time to find a nice lefty setup to customize to my personal needs and wants. In a bolt action rifle I honestly don't mind the right hand setup. Just gotta try it bro. My 2 cents. there's plenty of do's and dont's in any purchase. finding a combo kit I think would help you figure out what exactly u really want or atleast help guide u in the right direction. plenty of great deals on CGs look around keep your eyes open if you really have to have a lefty . I've noticed that lefty rifles are 150-200 bucks more than the right hand setup rifles unfortunately. GOOD LUCK.

Surgeon is making their 591 Repeater action in left-handed models now. I didn't see it on the website, but it was at SHOT Show this past week.
