Choose your "lone" weapon!

Any scenario: End of the world, yard full of deer/turkey/quail/buffalo, zombies knocking at your front door, wife nagging you that you can only get one, etc.

If you had just one choice, just one choice between a rifle, shotgun or handgun...what would it be? Click on the poll and if you like, name the brand/caliber.

I want to get a concensus of what Calgunners can live with by just having [Bone [/B]weapon format.

Rifle of course. I can't decide between 7.62x39, 5.56x45, and 5.45x39 though. But I do have a large amount of 5.45x39 on hand, and it's AP I believe.

I would definitely go with the rifle. Anything in .223 would be ideal especially a custom M4

I love AR's, but I would probably choose an AK in 7.62 x 39.

Rifle of course. Any battle rifle in a common caliber is ideal for everybody.

I would like a high quality AK. Just for the caliber and simplicity. The AR's ergos are way better but I would rather have 7.62X(39 or 51) and something I could clean with a shoestring dipped in motor oil.

I like the discreet capability of a pistol. Lighter to carry, lighter rounds, lighter magazines.

Sucks for defense compared to a long gun, sucks to hunt with, sucks for pretty much everything but when the JBTs are knockin' on your door to confiscate weapons... I can hide a pistol better than I can a rifle/shotgun.
