Help me adjust S&W Sigma SW9VE

I bought the S&W Sigma about 5 years ago didn't really shoot it because I wasn't an enthusiast then. Probably put less than 200 rounds in 5 years.

Took it out last month and after 20 rds, the extractor broke. I just got it back from S&W.

I took both the Sigma and Glock 19 this morning to see how the Sigma performs.

At 20ft the Glock was 100% accurate 10/10
At the same distance, I missed 8 of 10 shots.
I'm not here to bash S&W or say how good the Glock is.
I just need advice to fix my S&W.

At 20ft, any 9mm should shoot the same.
The Sigma is stock. I have not adjust anything. I assume the sight should already been adjusted.

      No, to both statements.

At 20 feet there is no guaranty that all 9mms will shoot the same.

All the manufacturer does is set the sights in the middle of their adjustment range. Besides the mechanical differences between individual guns, how you hold the gun and how your eyes line up the sights will go into where the bullets impact in comparison to your point of aim.

That's why the sights are made able to be adjusted.

Your sigma feeds without jamming? So you've got a keeper, congratulations!

May be I've been spoiled because I've been shooting with the Glock 19? It's that night and day different? I've put over 1000 rounds within the past month with the Glock while the Sigma gets about 200-300 at most the past 5 years. I'm reluctant to believe one gun can significantly be better than another at just 20ft.

I really don't want to have to adjust my aiming technique because it would affect how I shoot the Glock. I feel that you shouldnt have to adjust the way you shoot based on the gun.

I may end up selling the Sigma. Sorry S&W. Nothing personal. I'm not loyal to any manufacturer.

Sigmas are great guns for what they are and for what you pay, and frankly if Glocks were priced at the same ratio of cost to manufacture to retail as other guns, they would have been the same price range. But they weren't. Most guns sell at 4x production cost, Glocks sell at 7-8 times

Assuming the sights are on, the most likely reason you shoot it worse it because of the heavier trigger pull. There is a no cost diy trigger job. See they essentially added to extra springs to increase pull weight, because at the time LEAs complained that the Glock trigger was too light. But the heavy trigger is a consistent complain. Those extra springs can be safely removed.

Those sigmas can be hard to shoot with the awful trigger, and yes trigger can make a night and day difference, don't shoot a 1911 or you might start thinking the g19 has something wrong with it lol.

I'd probably sell it or keep it as a "within 10 feet" gun, the trigger can kind of be made better with apex parts but its not even as good as a glock trigger, and you've got about as much in it as a g19 at that point.

Just learn to shoot the damn thing. That longer, heavier pull is why you can't hit anything with it. With some practice you'll find that it is just as accurate as your g19. And if you can master the trigger on the sigma you'll find that you can pick up almost any other pistol and shoot it well.

I had a sigma about 5 years ago. That thing would shoot sub 2" groups at 15 yards all day long. Only reason i don't have it anymore is because i needed money for bills at the time. It's all about the fundamentals.

Speaking of SW9VE... anyone recommend a good laser for this handgun?

Anyone recommend a trigger job this as well?

A trigger job is easily done and easily undone. Trigger is less mushy than Glock, but much harder. But that can be fixed

For all those people who find it more convenient to bother you with their question rather than to Google it for themselves.

I like the Apex spring kits.
                      They really make a difference!

Not really any good lasers or lights for this pistol since it uses a proprietary rail-type attachment point. Those that are available seem to be cheap and clunky.

As for a trigger job, get the Apex parts kit that has been recommended by others. Takes that heavy 11-12lb trigger down to about 7-8lbs making the pistol much easier to control and shoot. I put the kit in mine and it made a big difference.

Its not a Glock but it will serve a person well, much better than a Highpoint for example.

There is rail adapter from amazon "Laserlyte Smith and Wesson Sigma Rail Adapter"

The Smith and Wesston Sigma mount now allows all Picatinny accessories to be mounted on the rail adapter. The mount clamps onto the frame using steel hardware and the glass-filled composite polymer rails will endure the toughest of duties.

My wife is more accurate than me with the Sigma so I guess it's the shooter and not the gun.

I seem to remember hearing that if you complained enough, S&W would work on the trigger for you.

All I know about the Sigma though is that the one I shot had a TERRIBLE trigger and both the people I know who actually bought them...sold them off as soon as they could find a buyer.
