These are nothing more than the original Sport Systeme Dittrich rifles being imported by a different collection of importers/distributors. After SSD's relation with PTR dissolved, importation was stopped. SSD then went to HZA Kulmbach in hopes of getting them involved for importation. Then a rumor circulated that Gewher Werks would bring them in, but no. And now it's El Be Tac apparently working with Robinson in the U.S. for the spare parts.

The rifle's components (from Germany) may or may not be better heat treated than the "PTR44s" components were, but that doesn't mean they won't have issues. All "PTR44" rifles are simply SSD "BD44s" shipped to the U.S. in a sporting configuration and refitted with the correct amount of U.S. made parts. When the PTR44s didn't prove themselves to be 100% reliable, the U.S. importers nixed bringing in more, so only 200 made it here. They DID all sell. MOST have or had issues. With only 200 in the country, people wanted them for the reason that an MP44 is uber cool, cheaper than an original, and (to some people) NO more were expected to be imported.

If there is ANY change in these weapons from the original batch (the PTR44s), they may be heated treated better, which is great. But that doesn't mean they solved the feeding and ejecting issues that most of the PTR44s had/have. Most PTR44 owners, who love their rifiles, bought original parts (and some aftermarket parts made by Recon Ordnance) for replacement or spare parts as NO spare parts came in with the rifles from germany in 2009 for the PTR44s. A lot of the problems have been fixed. Mine has only needed a replacement extractor and the op rod. ONLY when Ptr44 owners extensively complained about broken op rod and bolts (and SSD decided to help silent the bad press so they would be able to import more) did replacement op rods come in. And still NO other replacement parts from Germany - WTF...?

If ANYONE is interested in buying one of these rifles, I highly recommend you wait for serious performance reviews and know for absolute certain that spare parts WILL be here for them. It is museum quality looking, but this is America and WE shoot our stuff and expect it to work; especially, for $5,000 frickin bucks...
