    Scammed on gunbroker?

I bought and paid for a rifle from an individual seller on gunbroker this last Sunday. Tomorrow will be Friday and no tracking number? I was told it would ship Tuesday, there was ice storms where the seller is, Wednesday was another excuse, and today no communication.

My question is, when would you do a charge back with your credit card?

That's why it's wise to pay with a credit card, even if you do get hit with a surcharge.

I would actually give it a few more days. Very few true scammers are going to accept credit card payment, simply because of the recourse options that you have.

I paid with my cc on PayPal, I hope that doesn't change things.

Depends how you listed the payment. If it was listed as a gift you may have a serious problem if the transaction goes wrong.

It was "pay for services or goods". He has been on gunbroker for 6 years with no negative reviews, 17 in total. It just seems like a long time to me. If someone I didn't meet sent me 2200 bucks I would be down at the post office the next day at the time of opening.

That may very well change things, in two regards:

              1) If the CC company does a charge-back it would be against PayPal as the vendor. What service did PayPal (as opposed to the Gunbroker seller) fail to provide?

              2) You may need to involve PayPal in a claim against the Gunbroker seller. The PayPal outfit imposes "Terms and Conditions" on their services. (I'll let the lawyer types discuss the finer points of contract law. I'm not knowledgeable in that area). I would be concerned that if your transaction was outside of those "terms and conditions" (PayPal doesn't like gun stuff) that PayPal will not be very helpful.

Unless something untoward happened, such as a family emergency etc. Sometimes crap just happens.

You still have the credit card charge back option.

If it comes down to it, I bought a watch, not a gun. I don't like doing that but I won't get boned.

That sucks OP. Maybe the weather is to blame for the delay? I would wait a few more days. Did you contact Gunbroker? Maybe they can help speed up a response or at least suspend the seller/scammers account.

                          Good Luck
