Man great feed back guys. OK I'm gonna hold off and hopefully score one for say 500s at some point. Un the meantime I'm gonna look for some kind of sub 9.

I would look at other options. $800 is way to much and I think I paid $600 and that is to much for what it is. Its all hype. It's not reliable like the original Glocks and has a 6+1 capacity. For $100 less at the time you could get a non ca S&W Shield. 7+1 or 8+1 (9mm) and more reliable.

I really like mine but not so much that I would pay an inflated price to replace it if I ever had to. I have not had any issues whatsoever with it. It has not failed to fire a single round so far.

For the times that I need a really small carry gun, it's a good stand in but not so much that I would pay a premium to get one.

I like mine so much I bought two, but I would never pay $800. I got mine for $500 each OTD and that included SSE fees. I would definitely wait as prices are sure to drop as people do not buy at $800.

I love my G42, but at most I would pay $600 for brand new. Be patient, the used market is out of balance because of the end of SSE and people are in acquisition mode.

Wait several months and everything will settle, prices should become more reasonable. Remember, this is a $400 gun.

Regardless of the money, go get a Shield. Much cheaper off the shelf and you'll like it better. I like my Glocks and I've shot my friends G42 enough to know I really prefer my Shield. And don't believe any of the gripes about the CA Shield. Try it yourself. The LCI is un-noticable. If you don't like the safety it's totally easy to just ignore it. And of course the bonus of a more effective round.

This. I have both and like my Shield MUCH more. Better trigger, more / better round, etc.... Same thickness and the Shield is only marginally bigger. I'll post pics of a size comparison

Big difference in size. Apples to oranges. The glock is simple, SMALL and it works. The trigger and manual of arms is familiar. The shield has all kinds of extras attached that aren't necessary IMO.
