First of all let me say I have shopped at Turner's in the past before. I have used them for gun transfers and have purchased 2 new handguns and maybe 5 rifles or so from them. I have been a good customer to them for gun sales.
Most of the guys working at Turners (no matter which store) are complete morons who have no ideas of the rules and regulations and are very anal about things. They randomly make up stuff too
I have met a few older gun guys who work their for fun and they are much better to deal with.
I visit the Signal Hill store for the first time 2 weeks ago as I bought a handgun on Calguns. After the terrible experiance, I emailed Don Small (president) on the 9th, till this day, no response which angers me. I have heard in the past on here that if you email him he will take care and fix the problem but it seems like I am being ignored this time.
anyways here is what happened:
I showed up at signal hill store blowing time before the seller of the gun showed up to meet me. I checked out the Walther P1 that the salesman was trying to push for a quick sale. Finally the seller showed up and I presented the salesman with my CA Driver's license, 2 DMV car registrations, and my UTAH State CCW ID card. The reason I show my DL and my Utah CCW is my DL b/c CA sucks and only puts one address on the DL (my PO box mailing) My CCW shows my physical and PO as do my car regisrations. We ran into the first problem when the idiot at turners said he needed a physical address on my DL. I let him know that the DMV will not print both a physical address and a mailing address on a drivers license. I told him that is why I brought you two registrations and the State issued Utah CCW that proved my mailing address and physical address. Plus my Utah ID is an acceptable form of ID according to the DOJ. I politely informed him to get out the DOJ manual and I would show him a state issued ID is acceptable. He said the only way he could do the transfer is if I falsely wrote a new change of address on the back on my DL (which is a false statement since my address did not chage). This reminds me of lying on a document.... I objected and the Manager came over. He said you need your physical address on the card and the Utah CCW does not work since it must be in CA. I explained again the problem and he did not want to listen. He just rudely smirked and laughed and kept repeating himself as if it was a game. (You need your address on here, repeated that 5 or 6 times) Finally, after feeling embarrassed by him and I loudly asked, "I'm asking you a question, you will answer my question and you need to tell me what you want me to do" He just kept rudely smirking and refused to tell me that he wanted me to lie and write a fake change of address on my DL...He just walked away.... Feeling as if I had no choice, I followed what they wanted as i already drove far enough to do this. While the turners salesman was entering the DROS in the computer, I asked him if I could start filling out the 4473 form. This floored me when he said that I am not allowed to do that at this time by law and have to wait for the computer stuff to be input (again, I hear another made up rule that comes out of no where).
At this point I just wanted to get out of the store. I had been downtalked to, embarrassed in front of other customers and lied to on several occasions.
Now this is the kicker guys!!!
After completing the DROS, the seller of the firearm asked the same store manager about the Walther P-1's in the glass case. He asked what the price was on that firearm and the manager said it was $299. I obruptly butted in and mentioned it was on sale for $269. (partly to show the manager he is a no-nothing jerk) I knew it was on sale since I was also interested in buying one of these as it was in the weekly ad. The manager said that I was incorrect and the gun was not on sale.
I showed him up and asked him for a copy of the flier to show him it was indeed on sale----And he said "we do not have any copies of the store fliers."
Well in my email I told him that i would never shop at the Signal hill store again. Hopefully he can fix this and make up for this terrible experiance as i am a good customer who has spent lots of money there....
