    Storage

This is cool and vey clever. Personally, I just toss mine into range bags and they are seperated by type of gun. For example, I have a rimfire bag that has mags for all my rimfire rifles and pistols. I have another for centefire handgun mags, another for AR mags (all calibes), and yet anothe for "other" centerfire rifles. This way, I just grab the bags for whatever I packed in the truck to take to the range that day.

For all the backup mags of various kinds, I just lock them up in one of the drawers in a rolling tool cabinet in my garage.

      NOPE!

Like others have stated, its not very practical and very costly for little storage. Furthermore it looks like an oversized jewelry box to would be thieves. The shoe rack on the safe door seems like a genius idea.

I think the OP meant that the box is good for magazine collectors, who don't want their magazines stacked on each other or thrown in a box together getting scratched.
I've seen the tool box- its a machinists tool box for keeping precision tools safe. Can't imagine buying it to keep a few magazines in.

That's a cute box. If I got a couple, my AR mags might be covered.
I agree it might be good for a high end collection of rare mags. But for storage of general mags? No way

The box isn't a very efficient use of space but the shoe rack is a great idea. Too bad it won't fit the style of safes I have.

Mostly I just keep my routinely used mags in my range bags, a few loaded ones on the ready line in my safes and the rest just stacked up where ever I have room.

Very nice setup and very clever. My only issue with that is they are not loaded. I keep my mags loaded at all times. I doubt that the shoe rack would hold all that extra weight.

Like some else already mentioned, I also use ammo cans.

Harbor Freight has one like that too. I never had a use for one so I have not looked at either. I keep mine mine in plastic cubbies.

If the solution to your magazine storage is a bulky box with felt lined drawers for a few magazines... you didn't really have a magazine storage issue in the first place.

I looked at the one at Costco, it seemed that it was made out of some kind of dense particle board. That's why I passed on it. I could probably build my own out of much better quality wood for a slightly smaller investment ($$) plus time. It's the time factor that gets me.

                    Good luck.

FYI harbor freight has something similar(except I believe lockable) for $79.99. I was looking at it at one point for spare parts/build parts storage. But I ended up going another direction.

I think you're absolutely right. I've been using the shoe rack inside the safe for about a year now and it's held up pretty well considering how much weight it's supporting. With the exception of a couple of plastic AK mags, all the rifle mags are metal. I've never bothered to weigh the fully loaded (with empty mags) rack, but it definitely makes the door feel a good 15 or so pounds heavier when it opens and closes.

I can't take credit for the idea, I saw it either on calguns or arfcom by another poster and copied the idea.

I know there are people who don't see the need for more than a few mags for each weapon, and for that crowd I think the OP's idea of the toolbox is great. In my case, I keep mags in big totes on top of the racks in my garage. Costco sells some real sturdy big black plastic totes with yellow lids that are pretty strong and perfect for heavy or bulky items, and they stack well too.
