So you're worrying about a couple little dings and dents? Guns are tools and meant to be used. If you don't use them and they are without wear marks you've wasted your money and should take up stamp collecting.

my condolences, that truly sucks..
while I agree that normal use and wear can add character on firearms, abuse and neglect damage adds nothing..
big difference between a modern custom 1911 safe queen with an idiot scratch and an m1911 from WWI with battlefield assembly scars..
only consolation is that if you keep it, you won't be as upset over future incidents.. its already been deflowered.. use it for training noobs ..
if you plan to sell it however, abuse damage is harsh on value.. indicates poor care and handling and could make buyers wary..
and lol at all the 'tool' comments..just which one of you mall ninjas are taking an AK to work?
this isn't a carry gun with holster wear he's talking about.. I'd hate to see the way some of you take care of things
I started out with nothing - and I still have most of itComment

The only trouble here is that "picking up an AK and dropping it right on the corner of an ammo can" is neither using it as a tool or using it as it was meant to be used, nor a wear mark from wear as it should be. Using it as a "tool" to row a boat is not warranted when you have a paddle or an oar in the boat. That would just be dumb, just as it is to use it as a "tool" for hammering dents into ammo cans.
That's just plain stupidity, unnecessary, clutsy, and I would punch someone in the throat for doing less stupid things.Last edited by The Gleam; 01-10-2015, 1:59 AM.-----------------------------------------------

I drag mine though the dirt before I shoot mine. It's an ak. A wasr at that.Comment

If the dent didn't remove or cut wood, you can steam it out. Get a bluing pen for the receiver scratch. With a little effort you can minimize the damage.

Wait so your roommate dropped your AK, not only an AK, but the lowest end production AK that you can currently buy, and it caused a slight mark that won't effect function whatsoever......and you're mad about it?
I mean I could understand if it was a rifle dynamics or Krebs custom, or a rare polytech or something but it's just a WASR dude....get over it!Originally posted by RookieShooterOne of the theory is that the hormones they put in the milk. Exactly. I used my HK 45 (at least double the value of some WASR) for a 4 hour pistol course and my $60 mags are all scratched up from being dropped empty. The gun itself is slightly scratched from shooting from prone, me getting up and down, etc. it's a freaking tool, use it, and abuse it the way it was designed to be.The Second Amendment ex-tends, prima facie, to all instruments that constitute bearable arms, even those that were not in existence at the time of the founding. - The United States Supreme CourtComment

Dent in the wood and scratch on an AK?
WTF is the big deal. It's made to get used and it will get more of those.
You just broke the seal so you don't have to worry about it.
Oh, and you can guilt your buddy out of a few boxes of ammo or a couple of mags.
