What my handguns tell me

As a kid, I was always fascinated with guns. Last year, on my birthday, my girlfriend took me shooting for the first time. After that very moment, I knew I wanted a handgun.

So far, my handgun collection includes:
- Heckler & Koch USP .45
- Heckler & Koch USP .45 Tactical
- Walther PPQ M2 Navy SD
- Sig Sauer P224

When I look my collection, they tell me... GERMAN PISTOLS ARE SUPERIOR!

The Americans have already beaten the Germans twice when they listened to the wrong people. (But you do have a good start congratulations.)

German engineering and German combat theory are two different things!

The Sturmgewehr was the right move and gave birth to the AK-47, and the US being very backwards and stubborn was eventually dragged to adopt much the same thinking. Of course the sturmgewehr was opposed by Hitler and developed contrary to his orders.

Hitler thought the bolt action Mauser was all the German soldier needed. Like silly American generals that quickly forget lessons learned, big bullets, 1000 yd marksmanship, etc ruled the day, rather than practical experience.

Interesting note, Germans have been the originators of most innovations in guns. French for some pre-19th century. Americans can be credited most of the rest of the major ones.

The Wheelock
The Snaphaunce
The Dreyse rifle (first military rifle with self-contained cartridge)
The Mauser (the bolt action that Springfields were a copy of largely)
The assault rifle
Polymer framed handguns (H&K there)


The problem with the Germans was often over-engineering and innovating too much, rather than mass producing what they could.

Maybe they could do one of those Ultimate Warrior shows where they do the computer analysis and battle it out.

You are on your way to a good start for a collection. There are many good guns out there, don't limit yourself to one country of origin.
