Can a wad from a shotgun kill you? Penetrate a wall?

There was a video a while back of a guy with 2 phone books on his chest shot point blank with the wad from a 12ga and it broke his rip and gave him a pretty nasty bruise on his chest.

I don't know, but I will say its extremely dangerous and has the ability to cause a living person severe physical damage/pain, at the very least.

I've personally seen a 12g shotgun wad penetrate everything in front of it, short of a steel plate/target.

In other words, don't try it.

I call bs. I've shot normal phone books before with 8 shot at 5 or so feet. Nothing went through. The wad embedded but didn't even go halfway through.

He didn't say it did. The energy however will keep traveling after the wad is stopped. That's what broke the ribs.

With two normal phone books and just the wad? Still not believable. If you gave me two normal phonebooks and a kevlar vest I would try it out.

Sturdy wall as in your average household wall assuming it's well-built, and close-up as in within several feet. I'm sure the type of wad and charge would make a difference, too. I've got no actual science to back it up, though, just as assumption.
