    Gunrunner in Merced

Quick review on Gunrunner in Merced. I am trying to set up a PPT between myself and another member here on Calguns. The only day we can do it is tomorrow afternoon and Merced is halfway between us.

I called Gunrunner to make sure they are open tomorrow as I wanted to do a PPT. I was advised by the employee that they do not do PPTs on Saturdays. I told him that FFLs are not allowed to limit the days that they do PPTs. He got all huffy and handed me off to the owner.

The owner got on the phone and said "yeah, what is it?". I repeated that I would like to come in tomorrow to conduct a PPT. He said again that I would have to come in on Tuesday through Friday. I repeated what I told the other employee and now the owner got all huffy and said, "you know what, fine come on in, I'll make sure you are the last person I help". He then said "you know what else? This is a favor we are doing for you doing PPTs, we lose money on these."

I tried to go the route of explaining to him that he should try to look at PPTs as a free advertising route that brings new potential customers into the shop that will purchasee accessories and guns. I could tell that I was wasting my time and just ended the conversation. Not even going to waste my time tomorrow by going there and will meet the calgunner somewhere else.

I have spent money at this shop before and I've even bought guns there but I can promise I won't spend any more money there.

By the way, as I'm sure I will get accused of this, I was very polite the entire time.

So, in conclusion, if you have a PPT to do and it happens to be a Saturday, stay away from there.

Is this for the AK? Bummer lol

But yeah sounds like that guy has a ****ty attitude. I do my PPTs at Sierra or TRAP. Both are great and don't have a tude.

Yeah, Stage in Atwater is a great shop. I've had no problems in there whatsoever.

I've dealt with Gunrunner and will never do bussiness there. The owner was very rude. Also, a friend was going to have an LE assault rifle registered to him there and the woman there threatened to take the rifle if he walked in with it. I wonder how they stay in business if all you hear about is shotty customer service. I prefer Alquist Arms in Turkock, not much further and Richard is a good guy.

Doesn't sound like a friendly dealer.

Gunrunner is a complete joke, screw that place. That's the nicest thing I could ever say about them

Stage Stop has been decent to me and would definitely recommend them. Good people, nice store, acceptable prices, and reasonable transfer fees.

Alquist is also decent, but why drive to Turlock just to wait for a minimum of 30 minutes before you get helped? I'd rather pay a little more and go to Stage Stop for the better service.

I did one PPT at Gunrunner, horrible experience , they were telling me and the buyer, our deal was not a PPT, since the buyer found my gun I was selling on line (Calguns classifieds) they were hastling the buyer more after I left and he stayed awhile, I'll never go in there again.

Gunrunner is a joke basically told me to do an illegal transfer to get my grandfathers old revolver out of state, the shops I go to are alquist arms in turlock and Central Valley arms in los banos.

The last time my wife & I went to Gunrunners was about 5 years. Let's just say my wife wasn't comfortable with the owners husband. I saw what was happening & my wife & I told him to keep his hands to himself. All my wife wanted to do was practice at the range. This man has no respect for his own wife or women. I can't understand how they are in business...
